The main purpose of this course is to provide the
students with a current framework towards the
etiological, therapeautic and diagnostic criteria of
mental disorders and encourage them to grasp a
sceptical /comprehensive point of view in terms of
main conceptual issues in abnormal psychology.
Throughout this course, various mental disorders
included in Axis I and II of DSM-IV-TR will be
discussed comprehensively together with their
etiological, categorical characteristics, therapeutic
modalities and case presentations.

After the review of main concepts in relation to
psychological tests and their development, currently used
intelligence, personality and interest-ability tests will be
introduced and interviewing techniques will be examined .
The sourse includes topics such as definition and
classification of tests, psychometric qualities of psychological
tests, the concept of intelligence and its assessment, the
concept of personality, assessment of personality using
inventories and projective tests, interest and value
inventoies, ability tests, interview techniques.
