ECTOR COUNTY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT POLICE DEPARTMENT Office of Emergency Management Master Sergeant Scott McKown Emergency Procedures for Parents The Ector County Independent School District has procedures in place to effectively deal with emergency situations in and around schools. While we hope that these incidents do not occur, it is the District’s goal to be prepared to respond to any emergency and to protect students, staff and guests. To this end, we partner with other agencies, such as local and state law enforcement, city and volunteer fire departments and other community stakeholders. We will engage in joint drills with these agencies to ensure the best possible response. The District also conducts internal drills to include; lockdown drills, shelter in place drills, tornado drills and evacuation/fire drills. In the event of an actual emergency, do not call the school. It is imperative to keep the telephone lines open for emergency communication. Do not go to the school until notified to do so. It is necessary to keep streets and parking lots open for emergency responders. Tune into local media outlets, parent link and www.ectorcountyisd.org for emergency announcements, status reports and further instructions. Students may be evacuated to an alternative site and will need to be picked up by someone authorized on the Student Information Card (SIC). Be prepared to show a driver’s license or government issued photo ID. Unauthorized persons will not be allowed to take students. The District needs the cooperation and support of parents and the community in providing for the safety and welfare of our students. Please review District emergency procedures with your student and review your emergency contact information each year to ensure its accuracy. If you have any questions regarding the District’s Emergency Response Plan, feel free to contact your campus principal or the District Police Department.
