FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE by The University of Georgia’s Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication CHAPTER LEADERSHIP TREASURER AWARD RECIPIENTS RECOGNIZED AT THE 86th GEORGIA FFA STATE CONVENTION MACON – (MAY 3, 2014) – Winners of the Chapter Leadership Treasurer Award were recognized at the 86th Georgia FFA State Convention held at the Macon Centreplex on May 1-3, 2014. Jacob Proctor of Southeast Bulloch was the high school state winner of the 2014 Chapter Treasurer Award, followed by Zach Williamson of Brantley County and Caleb Bond of Franklin County finishing second and third, respectively. In the middle school division, Austin Cosper of Youth Middle was the state winner, followed by Daniel Albarran of Pelham City Middle and Haley McQuain of Hahira Middle finishing second and third, respectively. The Chapter Leadership Treasurer Award program rewards chapter treasurers for keeping exact records of receipts and disbursements. The high school Chapter Leadership Treasurer awards are sponsored by Ms. Rhonda Norris, CPA – TJS Deemer Dana LLP, while the middle school awards are sponsored by the Georgia FFA Foundation. All winners received a plaque and a cash award. State winners receive a $100 cash award. Additionally, the advisor of the state winner also received $100 cash. Second place winners received $50 and third place winners received $25. The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, changed its name in 1988 to reflect the growth and diversity of agriculture. There are more than 500,000 FFA members nationwide. The Georgia Association has more than 34,000 members, making it the 3rd largest Association in the nation.
