What should we do?
The following activities that we proceeded in this semester:
・ Communicate with Skype
We talk to American tutors (e.g. Kyle, Chris, Katie, Cheyanne) via Skype every
Tuesday and Thursday. It starts from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in Taiwanese time (5:00 p.m. ~ 6:00 p.m. in Missouri ). However, we will stop doing skype before the week that midterm or final exam is approaching.
As for essays, one of the members takes charge of thinking about a new topic and finding an appropriate article through the internet. Others will read the article and then write about their thoughts of it. Later, the leader will collect many essays from the group members and send "weekly essay" to the tutor.
We usually talk about the essay, share the different opinions with each other and sometimes read it out loud to the tutor. If we do have more time, we'll chat something else, sing songs to them or even dance.
・ Weekly essays and general corrections

The worship ceremony of Mu Zu (Goddess of the Sea) refers to sacrificial activities closely related to the Ma Zu culture. It is prevalent in the coastal regions of Chinese mainland as well as Hong King, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. The worship ceremony of Mu Zu is known as "Three Major Worship Ceremonies in China" together with those at the Yellow Emperor Mausoleum and the Confucius Temple.
Grand ceremony is held annually on the birthday of Ma Zu (the 23rd day of the 3rd lunar month) in the Ma Zu Temple on Meizhou Island, Fujian Province, China, which is the cradle of the Ma Zu culture.
Originally named Lin Mo, Ma Zu was born in the first year of Jianlong reign in the
Song Dynasty. She was extraordinarily bright as a child. Due to her familiarity with astronomy and meteorology, Ma Zu often assisted the fish men in preventing epidemics and warding off calamities. In addition, she took the charity cause as her lifelong pursuit. After she passed away, people held her up as goddess of the sea and built temples to offer sacrifice to her. Since the Song Dynasty, emperors of Yuan,
Ming and Qing Dynasties frequently granted honorable titles to Ma Zu and sent officials to offer sacrifice to her.
By now, the worship of Ma Zu has evolved from a sheer folk belief into a folk-custom culture of far-reaching influence. The annual memorial ceremony held in the Ma Zu
Temple on Meizhou Island is joined by numerous disciples of Ma Zu including overseas Chinese. The ceremony is commenced under the masterminding of the
officiant, assistant officiant and deaconry in the form of firing a solute, tolling and playing music. After that, people will take their own place, devoutly offering incense as well as kneeling three times and kowtowing nine times. The next steps are offering presents, playing music, and burning fete diction and precious silk. Finally, the ceremony is concluded in the thundering sound of bell, drum and fireworks. All adherents of Ma Zu from various places will devoutly offer incense, kneel and kowtow, with the whole course of ceremony presenting dignity and solemnness.
Worship activities related to Ma Zu also include Inspection Tour of Ma Zu, Oblation of
Vessel Model, and Sea Sacrifice, etc.
Ma Zu culture has been spread to the five continents with the footsteps of overseas
Chinese in the long history. Other than creating strong cohesiveness among the
Chinese in every corner of the world, Ma Zu culture serves as a cultural bridge and spiritual bond for solidifying overseas Chinese and communicating with the rest of the world in terms of culture. In 2006, Meizhou Worship Ceremony of Mu Zu was included in the List of National Intangible Culture Heritage.
:
Mu Zu is one of our religions in Taiwan. The god plays an importment role in Taiwaness life. Many people go to the temple to ask Mu Zu for help. Take students for example, when we have a big exam, we go to temple and prey Mu Zu to help us get good grades. Its function is like God in our culture. In addition, people hold a huge activity that many people join the event and take Mu Zu to many places for 14 days to celebrate
Mu Zu ’ s birthday every year. Though the event is very exhausted , a lot of people still join it. I think Mu Zu is our unique culture.
Corrections: spelling, put a space after a sentence, do not put a space between a comma and the word before it.

:
Ever since antiquity, the Chinese awe of god. They believe the religious belief, always think god around they all the time. Their behavior is very seriously and can't commit crime easily that they scare be punished by god. The house posistion have close relationship to the religious belief.
They believe the position is good and their destiny is good too. The
destiny is hold on by ourself. I think change the house position can change one's destiny is not scientific.

After industrial development, the environment has been big broken because of the economy need. People found all was in change when the economic became good. The forest was gone. The animals was gone. The air became dirty. Thus, people make the environment as well as before.
We comment is Singapore's environmental protection house, green building. The new building make less pollution and more comfortable than old. It is not only convenient for us but contribute the power to our Earth.
Impression
Sunny: Before taking part in this activity, I thought talking to foreigners (via
Skype) face to face was not even a chance. Now, I ’ m glad that I joined this activity and became a leader of the group. It was a great opportunity for both
Taiwanese and Americans to get to know each other ’ s cultures. This also taught me a lesson of being responsible. Moreover, the Americans are going to come to Taiwan and meet us at school in March! That makes us extremely excited because we can really talk “ face to face ” and have fun together here. At last, i have to say that it's a great activity ever!
James: The activity gives us an opportunity to practice our speaking. If we
use English to communicate with others in our normal life, that will be very strange. And thanks to this activity, we have chance to talk to the people on the other side of the Earth. Knowing the game that we have never played, like shooting game. It is good to try this activity.
Tony: Since I took part in the Skype, my life has been different . Although I am still afraid of talking to the foreigners, but I know English is important in our life. For example, we met Japanese few months ago. Our common language was English. The activity made me see the world and I want to leave Taiwan to scout different sight.
Tina:
Philips:

1. We need to speak clearly and louder
2. We can prepare more questions to prevent the awkward moment
Improvement

2. Everyone should finish their essays on time
3. Don't be late
Plan
1. Keep updating new events on our web page of Skype
2. Americans will visit Taiwan for International exchange in March
