RHS Senior Scholarship Application-Class of 2015

APPLYING STUDENT:
This year the Rosemount High School Senior Local Scholarship Program hopes to award approximately 21
scholarships valuing $24,000. The mission of this scholarship program is to recognize as many individual
students as possible. To be considered for one or more of these local scholarships, carefully follow the directions
below.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Unless otherwise noted, the following qualifications apply.
1. Graduating senior attending Rosemount High School is eligible to apply. RHS students attending SES may
apply for any scholarship not duplicated at SES.
2. Students must be planning to further their education after high school at an accredited two- or four-year
college or technical college.
3. A student’s involvement in school activities, community service, academic achievement and overall conduct
while enrolled at Rosemount will be considered in the selection process.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Fill out the entire Application (ALL complete sections A-J; if applicable sections K and/or L) as
completely as possible online, save as a Word Document, print the entire document, sign and turn in to
Lynn Heieie in the RHS Career Center.
2. Do not be concerned with the look of your form, some Xs may not be lined up or in the box, or the page break
may not be in a convenient spot. Content and completeness are more important.
3. You DO NOT need to attach a copy of your transcript. We will provide this information.
4. Financial need information is required for some scholarships. Complete section K of the application if you
wish to be considered for these scholarships.
5. Flint Hills Resources Discovery Scholarship has an additional requirement listed in section L of the
application.
6. Completed applications are due Wednesday, April 1, 2015. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
Please note, other scholarships awarded through area elementary schools, middle schools,
colleges or other local organizations need to be applied for individually. Watch for
announcements and check Family Connection with more information about these
scholarships.

applicants. It is a place where you can tell the committee who you are and what accomplishments

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Selection Criteria:



Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6 with focus on Math or
Science classes; demonstrated success in accelerated math or
science classes.
Plans to pursue a career in a math or science related field.
Proven leadership and entrepreneurial skills; significant
business or project initiative.
Two $2500 scholarships
An entrepreneur is one who owns, launches, manages and assumes the responsibilities of a venture or project; an
organizer, a promoter, a producer. At Flint Hills Resources we believe in entrepreneurship. At all times we strive
to act as entrepreneurs and to demonstrate the sense of urgency, discipline, accountability, judgment, initiative,
economic and critical thinking skills, and risk-taking mentality necessary to generate the greatest contribution
to the company. Please address this philosophy in your application.
Applications Procedure:
On a separate piece of paper, address the following questions:

Give a specific details about the types of Science or Math related career you are interested in pursuing and
why.
How are you planning to prepare yourself for your chosen field?
Give a specific example of a time during your high school career that you took leadership and ownership
over a school or community project, event or cause. How were you (knowingly or unknowingly)
incorporating the principals of entrepreneurship?
How will the Flint Hills Resources Discovery Scholarship help you achieve your goals in college and
beyond?
Students awarded a Flint Hills Resources Discovery Scholarship will be invited to an
awards dinner in June.
