AQS Baden-Württemberg - Details Details of the proficiency test - Priority pesticides in surface water“ – (June 2012) Parameter Aclonifen Alachlor Atrazine Bifenox Chlorfenvinphos Chlorpyrifos (Chlorpyrifos-Ethyl) Cybutryne Diuron Isoproturon Quinoxyfen Simazine Terbutryn. Trifluralin Matrix Surface water Aim of the PT To check the chemical analysis of priority and other substances in the context of chemical monitoring for the European Water Framework Directive, especially for compliance of surface waters with Environmental Quality Standards (EQS): Parameter Aclonifen Alachlor Atrazine Bifenox Chlorfenvinphos Chlorpyrifos (Chlorpyrifos-Ethyl) Cybutryne Diuron Isoproturon Quinoxyfen Simazine Terbutryn Trifluralin (proposed) AA-EQS [ng/l] (120) 300 600 (12) 100 30 (2,5) 200 300 (150) 1000 (65) 30 AA: Annual average Dates and deadlines Application deadline: 17. August 2012 Please apply for this PT preferably via our website (http://www.aqsbw.de) or with the enclosed registration form. Dispatch of the samples: 09. October 2012 Deadline for submission of results: 29. October 2012, 24:00h in written form to the provider Page 3 of 6 AQS Baden-Württemberg - Details Sample dispatch Samples will be sent by courier service. Participants may also choose to pick up the samples at the provider. Sample details 3 different surface water test samples at three levels of concentration of the analytes will be distributed in 1000 ml glass bottles, screw capped with PTFE sealing. Two bottles of each sample will be distributed for duplicate measurement. Sample preservation by cooling. Permitted analytical methods Participants are free to choose a suitable method. Limit of quantification The analytical method must achieve the following limits of quantification (LOQ): Parameter Aclonifen Alachlor Atrazine Bifenox Chlorfenvinphos Chlorpyrifos (Chlorpyrifos-Ethyl) Cybutryne Diuron Isoproturon Quinoxyfen Simazine Terbutryn Trifluralin Limit of quantification [ng/l] 25 25 25 3,75 25 9 5 25 25 25 25 10 5 These values are fixed taking into account the requirements of article 4 of the commission directive 2009/90/EC of the European communities for the technical specifications for chemical analysis and monitoring of water status in the context of the water framework directive (30 % of the relevant EQS) and the analytical possibilities. For some parameters the LOQ values required by the EU directive are unrealistically low, in other cases the values would be too high. Execution of the analysis The samples must be analysed in the own laboratory with own personnel and own equipment. Subcontracting of the analysis is not allowed. Evaluation The statistical evaluation of the PT is carried out preferably using reference values from the sample formulation as assigned values X. If this is not possible, the consensus mean of participants’ data (calculated with Algorithm A mean according to ISO 13528 -Annex C) will be used. The standard deviation for proficiency assessment (SDPA) is calculated in compliance with the requirements of the “PT-WFD”- network: SDPA = 0,25 · X. Page 4 of 6 AQS Baden-Württemberg - Details Assessment For each measured value x, a z-score is calculated from the assigned value X and SDPA according to following formula: z x X SDPA The assessment of the results is as follows: |z| 2,0 2,0 < |z| < 3,0 |z| 3,0 satisfactory questionable unsatisfactory Certificate For each parameter it will be stated, how many values are satisfactory, questionable or unsatisfactory. The results reported as below (<) limit of quantification will be assessed as “unsatisfactory”. Reporting There will be a final report provided by AQS-BW in English language. Participation fee The participation fee will be 500 € plus transport costs: - within Germany: about 20 € - to neighbouring European countries: presumably about 160 € - in other European countries: presumably about 180 € VAT might also be added, if applicable For transportation costs to participants outside Europe, please contact us. Of course there are no transportation costs, if samples are picked up at the provider.
