1. Background
The initial proposal was submitted based on the agreement of five offices. The
scheme is based on CPC.
Comments from DE (Annex 2) were submitted on the initial proposal.
2. Rapporteur proposal
Regarding H02K11/00 “for radio interference”, and H02K11/02 “for suppression
of radio interference”, JP proposes to change the title from “for radio
interference”, and “for suppression of radio interference” to “for electro-magnetic
interference”, and “for suppression of electro-magnetic interference.”
It is because, today, “electro-magnetic interference” is more generally used term.
The term “radio interference” when literally interpreted has very limited meaning
which is not consistent with the classification practice.
3. Comments from DE
3.1 H02K11/023
H02K11/023 covers physical placement of the components.
However, functional circuit design is not considered to be covered by it because
it is not structural association (cf. H02K11/00).
On the other hand, physical placement of circuit element or wiring per se is
covered by one of the groups H02K11/02~028.
While JP considers that “the ground routing” is covered by one of the groups
H02K11/024~028 if it is both structural association and for suppression of
electro-magnetic interference.
To summarize the nature of groups H02K11/02~028, structural association of
means established primarily for suppression of electro-magnetic interference is
covered by H02K11/024~028. Others, i.e. structural association of existing
components which suppress electro-magnetic interference and likes are covered
by H02K11/02~023.
3.2 Differences of scope
H02K11/10 covers structural association of materials which “shield” already
generated electromagnetic noise (including electro-magnetic interference
causing noise). H02K11/02 covers materials which “suppress” generation of
electro-magnetic interference causing noise and likes.
3.3 H02K11/04
H02K11/04 is considered to cover structural association related to means to
rectify and convert alternating current into direct current using diode. Brush and
slip-ring are considered not to be covered by H02K11/04.
Currently, JP thinks subdivision is not necessary because numbers of
documents classified in H02K11/044 and H02K11/046 are not many.
If subdivided into details such as bearing shield, end shield, external box and
cooling assembly, number of documents classified in each subgroup is expected
to be too small.
JP would like to invite various comments from other offices.
