Assignment must be presented on A4 paper in one plastic sleeve. Late assignments will be accepted, but will
lose 20% per day for the first 5 days, then will be given a mark of zero.
Task Description
You are to write a report on the Olympic Games as a global event. In your report include the following
information under the headings provided:


Introduction (2 marks)
Briefly describe the Olympic Games and how often they are held. (1 paragraph)
Involvement in the Olympic Games (2 marks)
List:
a. 2 countries from the developing world that participated in the 2012 Olympic Games
b. 2 countries from the developed world that participated in the 2012 Olympic Games

Olympic Mascots (6 marks)
Identify and describe the Mascots for the 2012 London Olympic Games. (1/2 page)

The Olympic Committee (5 marks)
Outline the process that a person from Australia would need to follow in order to become a member
of the International Olympic Committee. (1/2 page)

Medal Winners (6 marks)
Write a ½ page on the medal winners of the 2012 Olympic games. In your discussion identify the
country that gained the highest number of Olympic medals in the 2012 London Olympic Games and
the country that gained the lowest number of Olympic medals in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Propose and justify reasons why there would be a difference in the medal tally between these two
countries. (1/2 page)


identify whether it is a political, social or economic reason (3/4 page extended response).
