1 2012pa002326-ts03.txt. A list of the benthic foraminiferal rotaliid taxa
documented and their interpreted paleoenvironmental distribution. The
interpretation for each taxon was based on regional modern analogues [Li et
al., 1996a; Li et al., 1996b; Smith and Gallagher, 2003; Smith et al., 2001]
and comparative regional fossil studies [Gallagher et al., 2001], [Gallagher
et al., 2003], [Li et al., 2003].
1.1 Column “Taxon”, species or genus.
1.2 Column “Author”, author of species.
Gen = genera identification. Group
= group level identification.
1.3 Column “Pd sub”, paleodepth range from shelfal (sh) to upper bathyal.
1.4 Column “Pd Inn”, paleodepth range inner shelf (0-50 m).
1.5 Column “Pd Mid”, paleodepth range middle shelf (50-100 m).
1.6 Column “Pd Out”, paleodepth range outer shelf (100-200 m).
1.7 Column “Pd UpB”, paleodepth range upper bathyal (200-500 m).
1.8 Column “ 13CBULK (%oPDB)”, carbon isotope values for bulk (carbonate)
sediment relative to PeeDeeBee Belemnite.

1 2012pa002326-ts05.txt. Input parameter data for the backstripping.
The Groper-1
stratigraphic section was divided into 100,000 year intervals and backstripped.
1.1 Column “Base (kmkb)”, depth to base of interval in kilometers below kelly
bushing.
1.2 Column “Ageb (Myrs)”, age of base of interval in million years.
1.3 Column “SLb”, Sea level of base of interval (averaged paleodepths derived from
plankton% for the 100,000 year segment).
1.4 Column “Top (kmkb)”, depth to base of interval in kilometers below kelly bushing.
1.5 Column “Aget (Myrs)”, age of top of interval in million years.
1.6 Column “SLt”, Sea level of top of interval (averaged paleodepths derived from
plankton% for each 100,000 year segment).
1.7 Column “ρc”, estimated average “dry” sediment grain density in kilograms per meter
cubed (from facies data in Allen and Allen, 1990) for the interval.
1.8 Column “C”, estimated average porosity coefficient in kilometer-1(from facies data
in Allen and Allen, 1990) for the interval.
1.9 Column “Φo” estimated average %surface porosity (from facies data in Allen and
Allen, 1990) for the interval.

1 2012pa002326-ts06.txt Output data after backstripping and removal of regional
subsidence affects.
1.1 Column “Depth (kmkb)”, depth in kilometers below kelly bushing.
1.2 Column “Ageb (Myrs)”, age in million years.
1.3 Column “P/Depth”, the paleodepth in kilometers derived from %planktics.
1.4 Column “R1”, the paleodepth in kilometers minus the thickness of
decompacted sediment derived from the input parameters in 2012pa002326-ts6.
1.5 Column “TS”, a regional tectonic subsidence curve in kilometers [Hegarty et
al., 1986; Rahmanian et al., 1990] fitted to the data.
1.6 Column “R1-TS”, is decompacted paleodepth minus tectonic subsidence in kilometers.
1.4 Column “R2”, is R1 minus TS multiplied by 0.6969 (a density factor, see
main text for explanation) cf. Kominz et al. [2008].
R2 is the regional
Gippsland Sea Level curve (GSL) that is also listed in 2012pa002326-ts3 (with
errors)
