Press Release Autumn 2015 The decorative porcelain plate is back Decorative porcelain plates with poetic season motifs and the signature colour “blue” are important elements in the Bjørn Wiinblad universe, and both are more topical than ever. This autumn, the decorative porcelain plate is making a comeback as Bjørn Wiinblad Denmark launches a series of colourful oval plates featuring various motifs for decoration and table use. The multifunctional plates are supplemented by a trio of new cups – one with a handle and two insulated – adding subdued hues and dusty blue to Wiinblad’s magically modern universe. The retro style is a hit in the worlds of fashion and contemporary interior design. Designers are particularly inspired by the flower children of the 1970s, interpreting the flamboyant boho-style in a new, more contemporary look. This includes the decorative porcelain plate, which is making a strong comeback. After decades covered in dust, it is gaining in popularity as a useful household item and a work of decorative art, where vintage plates are being combined with modern picture frames to create personal and charming gallery walls. As of this autumn, it is no longer necessary to dig through flea markets and junk shops in search of the coveted plates, as Bjørn Wiinblad Denmark launches eight different little works of art plus three new, indispensable cups – one with a handle and two insulated. Still got the blues… Bjørn Wiinblad’s home and active workshop in Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, are known as The Blue House, and that is no coincidence. Bjørn Wiinblad loved the colour blue in all its nuances and collected blue porcelain throughout his lifetime, inspiring him in his own art and bringing beauty to everyday life. This autumn, when Bjørn Wiinblad Denmark adds a new dusty blue colour to the porcelain plate palette, it is entirely in keeping with the spirit of the master’s personal philosophy – as well as in line with contemporary colour trends, which increasing call for delicate, subdued hues. The dusty blue colour is found on one of this season’s new decorative porcelain plates, all of which feature motifs of lovers in harmony with nature and set the mood for modern folklore wherever they are used: In the kitchen for easy serving of little snacks, at the dinner table for sides and desserts, as coasters under decorative objects and plants or as wall hangings, where the oval plates can be hung with a trendy leather cord passed through the decorative hole or simply mounted on the wall with a straightforward nail. The dusty blue colour is also found on this season’s most hands-on new product: a little series of cups featuring motifs of Wiinblad’s characteristic women’s faces that are bound to quickly become the most popular cups in the house. The Rosalinde cup is the only one with a handle and is perfect for morning tea and evening coffee, where one delicious cup is enough. Meanwhile the versatile Felicia and Celicia insulated cups are ideal for serving everything from hot drinks and cold juice to tasty snacks. The new insulated cups are also irresistible on the windowsill as containers for herbs and small plants, making it easy to set the right Wiinbladian flower power tone in the modern kitchen. The Wiinblad decorative oval porcelain plates (H: 19 cm, W: 15 cm) come in five different colours with four different motifs and are priced at EUR 169.95 (RRP), each. The Wiinblad cups in dusty blue come in the motifs Rosalinde (35 cl cup with handle), Felicia (25 cl insulated cup) and Celicia (31 cl insulated cup) and are priced at EUR 129.95, 169.95 and 199.95 (RRP), respectively. The new products will be available in stores from mid-August 2015. For the dealer nearest you, please call (+45) 4588 6633. Find out more at: www.bjornwiinblad-denmark.dk.
