Training and Coaching in Brain Building: The Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning
and Implementing Positive Behavioral Supports in Early Education and Care
Foundations of the CSEFEL1 Pyramid Model Course
Course Description:
This training, available in all regions throughout Massachusetts, teaches about
children’s social emotional development and the effects of interactions with
teachers and caregivers on children’s learning. Through evaluation-informed
instruction in theory, the specific uses of implementation strategies and the use of
reflection, participants are introduced to evidence-based Pyramid Model practices
that promote social emotional growth, prevent challenging behaviors and provide
positive behavioral supports in addressing challenging behaviors in children birthsix years.
Intended Audience:
The training course is designed for professionals who work with infants and young
children in a variety of roles and settings including:

CSEFEL Train-the-Coach
Course
Description:
This training is available in all EEC regions and employs instruction on theory, specific
implementation strategies, and the use of reflection in order to provide CSEFEL
Trainers with the tools and expertise to fulfill the role of CSEFEL Coach in early
childhood education settings. The CSEFEL Coach is able to provide support to
programs with the goal of taking the CSEFEL Pyramid Model to fidelity.
Intended
Audience:
CSEFEL Trainers who are consultants or embedded within a program with the goal of
implementing the CSEFEL Pyramid Model to fidelity.
Schedule:
16 hours: two 8-hour sessions

use of the CSEFEL modules for parents, providing companion parent group and homebased approaches to CSEFEL’s comprehensive model for supporting social emotional
growth and addressing challenging behavior.
