The announcement was made by Leonard Toenjes, CAE, president of the AGC of Missouri. “Alan has an exemplary career of public service in Missouri, dating back to 1986,” said Toenjes. “His leadership on statewide policy issues, knowledge of state government, and experience with environmental issues will be a tremendous asset to our new statewide organization. Alan also will manage operations and our staff in our Jefferson City office.” A 2008 graduate of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce Leadership Missouri class, Reinkemeyer has served as director of the Environmental Services Program for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources since 2006, except for a 15-month period 2011-2012 when he was named acting director for MoDNR’s Division of Environmental Quality. During that period he managed 800-plus employees and was responsible for a budget exceeding $500 million. In April 1997 he was named State Employee of the Month. He holds a Bachelor of Science in natural resources, with a minor in criminal justice from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, and has taken several pre-requisite courses towards an MBA from Columbia College. He also has completed extensive training from the Missouri Department of Conservation and others. In his new position Reinkemeyer will coordinate activities for the AGC of Missouri’s heavy/highway/infrastructure issues at the local and state levels. He also will be responsible for maintaining relationships with MoDOT and MoDNR, including the Air Advisory and Water Protection Forums. He also will monitor the development of the five-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan through 25 metropolitan planning organizations and regional planning commissions. Reinkemeyer has served in the midst of many policy issues and both man-made and natural disasters during his career. He is former vice chair of the Missouri Emergency Response Commission and has been the primary DNR disaster coordinator for the past 15 years. In December 2005, he was asked to lead the on-site project oversight of the Taum Sauk Reservoir failure which impacted Johnson Shut-ins State Park. Following the Joplin tornado in May 2011, he and his staff spent many months helping the community recover by assisting with debris disposal issues, hazardous materials management, white good recycling, air monitoring, etc. In addition to serving as the agency’s primary disaster coordinator, he has served as a member of the Clandestine Drug Lab Cleanup Task Force and served on the Missouri Emergency Response Commission. He also is a long time member of the Governor’s Homeland Security Advisory Council. “In 2009 my life changed tremendously when my parents were involved in a tragic vehicle accident on a rural highway in Central Missouri,” said Reinkemeyer. “I lost my dad and my mother was seriously injured in the accident. Mom has fully recovered and is doing great today, and I am extremely proud of her. However, the accident has helped fuel my passion for safe roads and bridges in Missouri.
