(Please provide details) Candidate Criteria The candidate must fulfil the following criteria: Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident; Be studying for a Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology (i.e. 0.5 FTE or above) at the University of Otago; Must have been studying for their doctorate for no more than three years at the time of the meeting; Must have an abstract accepted for presentation (poster or oral) at the international conference for which they are applying for funding to attend; Must not have previously received the Kainic Medical Communications Travel Scholarship; The candidate must acknowledge that they are a recipient of the Kainic Medical Communications Travel Scholarship on their poster or in their oral presentation. Conference Criteria The conference must fulfil the following criteria: Must be a significant international conference i.e. Global or regional conference. Australia/New Zealand regional conferences are excluded from consideration; Applications will be considered for conferences in 2015 and 2016; Applications for conferences to be held in 2016 will only be considered when the abstract submission deadline occurs within 12 months of the closing date for applications. Judging Criteria Likely benefit to be gained by the individual from attending the named conference; Potential for attendance at the conference to increase international exposure for the student’s research and the benefit for their co-authors and laboratory colleagues; Potential to raise the profile of research performed in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, University of Otago and New Zealand; Writing and presentation ability, namely the ability to present a clear, concise and accurate application. The successful candidate will be selected by the staff of Kainic Medical Communications with the final decision to be made by the Director(s).
