Posts
Some of you have been asking for a source of posts suitable for staking fruit crops. Posts and
other wood products treated with creosote (as in railway ties) or pentachlorophenol cannot be
used safely near food crops and are therefore banned in most cases.
If you must treat your own wood products for use next to food plants, use a product containing
copper naphthenate and allow one week to weather before placing the wood next to food plants.
Another preservative, copper 8-quinolinolate, is the only one that can be safely used in direct
contact with food, i.e. in picking baskets, storage walls and pallet bins. For details refer to 'Wood

Fletcher Sims’ Compost by Charles Walters. This books compliments Hands-On Agronomy
regarding organic soil amendments.
Soil, Grass and Cancer by Andre Voisin. Background info on why soil management is
important.
Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston A. Price. Info on why good diet is so important.
Super Nutrition Gardening by William S. Peavy and Warren Peary. Chapters one through six
contain some very interesting data and recommendations.
