INTERNSHIP: Kaiser Permanente is offering an internship to students interested in
medical careers. Attend a 7 week program to learn about different health care careers
and departments in hospitals such as OB-GYN, Pediatrics, Public Affairs and Emergency
Room. You will also gain valuable pre-employment skills that will assist you when you enter
the workforce.
Requirements: For 10th, 11th or 12th graders. Must be 16 years old by 6/1/2016. Must be
available to attend the 7 Saturday training from April 16 to June 4, 2016.
Applications are available in the Career Center. Deadline is TODAY, January 25.
Boys volleyball tryouts on Tuesday, January 26 at 3 pm and Wednesday, January 27 at 4 pm in
the old gym. Please make sure you have taken your physical and cleared your athletic packet at
the nurse. Current in season athletes should wait for tryout at a later date. If you have any
questions please see Mr. Chu in A239.

The CSULA Writing Center is held each Tuesday in room A-214 after school. Take
advantage of Cal State LA professors and tutors to help improve your writing. ~Ms. Flores
Need Service Hours???? Attention MKHS Service Clubs:
We are looking for student volunteers to assist with our MKHS Honors/Advanced Placement
Fair. The MKHS Honors/Advanced Placement Fair will take place on Thursday, January 27th.
Service Hours between: 5:30pm-8:00pm. Please stop by the Office of Instruction (Next to
Attendance Office) and see Becky. Thank you.
Spring CTE 2016 after school classes has begun on 1/11/16, with spaces still available for
students still interested. Our Community College Concurrent Enrollment classes will begin for
Rio Hondo College on 2/1/16 with Auto Technology 106 and Engineering 122 at MKHS
campus. ELAC classes will begin on 2/9/16 with Administrative of Justice I at MKHS, we
have other off campus classes still available. Come to Career Center to sign up.
Open to all grade levels: LA County Public Works Department will be holding a presentation
in the Career Center on Thursday, January 28 during period 4. Sign up to learn more about
STEM Careers from two of their very own Civil Engineers! There are many STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math) careers available to you. The U.S. Department of Labor
expects that there will be 1.2 million job openings in STEM related fields by 2018, but there
won't be enough qualified graduates to fill them. Attend the presentation to learn about the
possible fields you can go into by studying in a STEM major. Pick up your permission slip in
