About the scholarship
This application form is for students who wish to apply for an Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies
Scholarship and who have received an offer to commence undergraduate study at the University of
Oxford in 2015. The scholarships are offered by the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. Awards will be
made on the basis of financial need and academic merit to the candidates who, in the view of the
Scholarship Committee, are most deserving. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.
Enquiries regarding the scholarship should be directed to Student Fees and Funding at the University
of Oxford via an email to student.funding@admin.ox.ac.uk. Please mark your email ‘UG OCIS
Scholarships’.
Eligibility
Applications will be accepted from students applying for admission to any undergraduate degree
except medicine. Candidates should be students ordinarily resident in the UK from Muslim
communities who will benefit from an award towards their fees and maintenance costs. Applicants
should note that any available household income information may be shared with OCIS. Applicants
will be expected to apply for any government support to which they are entitled, but will not be
required to take out any government loans. Applications will not be considered from those who wish
to undertake a second undergraduate degree.
Award
The scholarship will cover University tuition fees at the Home fee rate for 3 or 4 years depending on
the length of the course and will also provide a maintenance allowance for the same period.
Scholarship payments in the second and subsequent years are subject to satisfactory progress being
made, and on receipt of annual reports that students will be expected to write at the end of each
academic year detailing their academic progress and participation in University and College life. You
are required to complete scholarship reports during each academic year of your scholarship which
will inform the University’s report to the donor.
Completing the application form
You should complete the application as completely and accurately as possible and ensure that the
following documents are provided:

If applicable, a copy of your financial notification from your funding awarding body. If you have
not yet received this please forward it to Student Fees and Funding as soon as this is received
and provide an estimate in Part C.

Two references, at least one of which must be academic, and neither referee should be related
to you. Referees do not have to be Muslim. References should be sent directly by the referee to
us and it is your responsibility to ensure that Student Fees and Funding receives your
references by the deadline. We regret that we are unable to contact referees on your behalf.
Please fill in the form as clearly and completely as possible either electronically or in black ink. Where
possible, please ensure that the form is printed as a single-sided document.
