CAFCASS Child Contact Interventions - Observation of Contact Sustaining Contact
Working in Partnership
Child Contact Interventions (CCI)
Observation of Contact - Sustaining Contact
Notes
1. Sustaining contact is an interim contact intervention designed specifically to
allow established contact to be sustained in a safe and planned manor for an
interim period. The assistance offered is to build upon and sustain a positive
relationship while other work is undertaken. This could involve shorter
contacts, at lower frequency over a longer period of time.
2. Observations need to take account of all the information available and record
exceptional circumstances where a parent fails to meet the needs of the
child and or where the parent puts the child at risk of harm.
3. It may not be possible to make comments in all the boxes.
4. Please write as objectively as possible with a view to this record being shared
with service users.
5. Exceptional Circumstances: significant harm to infant, child or young
person If at any time during the course of this contact session you feel that an
infant, child or young person has been harmed or abused or is at risk of harm
or abuse, you must follow the Cafcass Safeguarding Framework, Local
Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) procedures and those of the
Department of Health as set out in the booklet What to Do if you are Worried
a Child is Being Abused.
