Christmas gathering at Veritas at 14.00pm Description and assessment of the autumn Everyone has now gotten to know each other well and are playing well together at Tyttebærtua. We have had groups together with Blåbær which has been a success. The language groups have been divided over the departments, and it works well with a mixed group both in age and language development. The children at Tyttebærtua have attended many common gatherings where they have contributed and impressed with songs and plays . What we have been especially working on this past 6 months at Tyttebær is how to sit by the table during a meal. We practice chewing our food with our mouths closed, sit still on the bench/chair and not mess about and being silly. The children make their own food and ask the person next to them or an adult for help. The fruit is served in a bowl which the children send around the table to each other. We want a nice atmosphere around the table where one can talk to each other or sit and listen while a book is being read. We notice a development in this and that we need to continue working with this throughout the whole year. December: For most people December is quite a hectic time. We wish to focus on relaxing and enjoying Christmas activities together with the children. We will take a break from the usual activities. We will make gingerbread, Lucia buns (lussekatter) and make secrets. We will have different materials available for the children to use to make different Christmas decorations for those who wish to do so. Each morning at 09.30am we will have an advent gathering at the department where we will light candles, sing Christmas songs, eat gingerbread and listen to Christmas stories. The last week before Christmas there are some days without a set program, so we will do more what we feel like then. We will assess what the group of children needs then and there. Theater: ”Snekker Andersen” (Carpenter Andersen) On Tuesday all of Tyttebærtua and Blåbærtua will go to the theatre Oslo Nye Trikkestallen at Torshov. The play we will see is called “Snekker Andersen og julenissen” (Carpenter Andersen and Santa Claus). We will get the bus both there and back again. The bus will leave at 10.00AM so all children must be in the kindergarten at 09.30AM on this day. We will be back around 13.30/14.00PM Church visit on 11th December at 12.00pm Each year the department for older children visit Høvik Church. This is a Norwegian tradition and the church has their own program for the children in kindergartens. We will sing Christmas songs, light candles and they will tell us about when Jesus was born. This visit is voluntary. Tell us if you do not wish your child to attend. We will then have a different program in the kindergarten. We will get the normal bus back and forth. Lucia breakfast 13th December We invite all parents to a Lucia breakfast on Friday 13th December. All Maxi-children will walk in a Lucia-procession outside at 08.15AM. Afterwards we will go to the departments where there will be served Lucia buns (lussekatter) and coffee/lemonade. Maxi-children must be in the kindergarten at 07.45AM to change into Lucia outfits. Bring a white shirt or something similar from home. If you do not have anything the child can use; notify the kindergarten. We have a few old Lucia outfits in the kindergarten which can be borrowed, but unfortunately we do not have enough for everyone. It is a good idea to wear a warm jumper that they can wear underneath the shirt. The kindergarten has a Lucia crown, star hats, glitter and lights which the children can borrow when they walk in the procession. Maxi-children will also walk in a Lucia-procession in both canteens at Veritas. Santa party and Christmas gathering at Veritas. On Friday 20th December there will be a Santa party in the kindergarten. The children can dress up as santas and in red clothes. Remember to label Santa hats with names! The house orchestra will come and play Christmas music for us and we will eat rice porridge for lunch. At 14.00PM we will attend a Christmas gathering at Veritas where we will be in a Santa choir. After we finish singing we will retreat to the couch area. We would like all parents to tell us if you wish to pick up your child during this time or if your child will come back with us to the kindergarten afterwards. We will put up a note on the door about this. We would also like to know whether or not your child will attend kindergarten on Friday 3rd January. A note about this will also be put on the door for you to sign on. WE WISH EVERYONE A LOVELY ADVENT TIME! Best wishes from everyone at Tyttebærtua
