JOB DESCRIPTION Social Media Officer JOB DETAILS Job Title: Social Media Officer Department: Fundraising & Communications Location: Tyrwhitt House, Leatherhead Status: Full time Hours: 37.5 per week – Monday to Friday Reporting to: Communications and Engagement Manager OVERALL PURPOSE The Social Media Officer works with colleagues from across the Fundraising and Communciations Department and the organisation to manage the Combat Stress social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, and to update the Combat Stress website. A key part of your role is to create engaging content to raise awareness of Combat Stress and Veterans mental health, to engage and communicate with our supporters and audiences, to manage our reputation and profile, to support our fundraising and marketing activities. The post holder will work closely with Communications Team colleagues to ensure there is an integrated approach to communications and engagement activity online and offline. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the day to day management of the Combat Stress Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube channels working closely with Communications Team Colleagues to ensure consistent messaging and integrated communications online and offline. Developing, writing and producing social media content, working closely with the Communications Manager and Press Officer to ensure an integrated approach with consistency of messages and that all communications are on brand Responsible for promoting social media use within Combat Stress and providing guidance, advice and training to colleagues across the organisation Work closely with all members of the Communications Team to contribute to the content marketing strategy, and the organisational external communications and engagement strategy. Work closely with fundraising colleagues to ensure digital fundraising and engagement opportunities are maximized and that social media supports offline fundraising activity Monitor social media activity closely to ensure any potential crisis management situations are dealt with in a timely, coordinated and considered manner ensuring that your communications colleagues and manager are informed of any significant problems, escalating to the Head of Communications, Fundraising & Communications Director and Senior Team where necessary. Evaluate and analyse social media and online activity ensuring relevant and helpful feedback is produced for colleagues across the organisation to constantly monitor and improve social and online activity. Attend events and meetings to ensure a range of Combat Stress activities are communicated through our social media channgels, experience of video production would be helpful Research and build understanding of social media audiences in order to deepen relationships and engagement opportunities by developing audience appropriate content Research, monitor and evaluate paid for social media advertising and online digital marketing opportunities Monitor and analyse partner and related organisations’ social media activity to identitfy opportunities and learnings to improve the Combat Stress online presence Work with the Press Officer to support media relations and PR activity ensuring that digital and social media plans are produced in a collaborative and integrated manner Work with other communications colleagues to update and maintain the Combat Stress website, including updating and ongoing monitoring, and liaising with other Combat Stress staff as necessary Work with communications colleagues to develop a social media and digital strategy including the development and promotion of Social Media Guidelines for the organisation. Contribute to developing and maintaining a strong brand and profile for Combat Stress, through appropriate use of the brand identity, key messages and supporting its reputation in all external communications and relationships. 2 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 2. To stay informed of trends and developments in social media, to advise on and implement new channels as agreed Contribute to the development of team plans and activities To take part in a rota for out-of-hours media enquiries and social media monitoring Occasional attendance at awareness-raising or fundraising events which may include evenings and weekends RISK MANAGEMENT As an employee of the Society you are required to be risk aware, readily able to identify risks faced by you and by the Society in the course of your day-to-day employment.
