PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Ignite Institute & Pacific School of Religion is delighted to invite you to become a
presenting partner of
The New Story of Work: Politics, Spirituality, and Labor
Can religious traditions help us make sense of the changing reality of work in America? How might
remembering ancient stories help us understand work in a way that is relevant today? Do Christian
scriptures and other sacred teaching call us to stand with working people fighting for the right to organize
and earn a living wage, and speak into the complexities of global trade and the exploitation of
undocumented workers?
The New Story of Work will bring together organizers, faith and business leaders, activists, and scholars, to
discuss how spirituality contributes to an understanding of what work is, what possibilities and challenges
accompany the growth of faith-based grassroots activism around labor issues (e.g., Interfaith Worker
Justice), and what resources religious traditions might offer the political conversation in a presidential
election year.
Confirmed speakers:
 2016 Earl Lecture with Annie Leonard, sustainability proponent and creator of the animated
film The Story of Stuff (2007), which describes the life cycle of material goods. In 2014, she became
the Executive Director of Greenpeace USA.
 Jorge Rieger, theologian and author of Occupy Religion.
 David Vásquez-Levy, immigration reform activist, pastor, and President of Pacific School of
Religion.
Your sponsorship will support the work of the Ignite Institute @ Pacific School of Religion.
The Ignite Institute is helping to create a world where we all can thrive. We do this by providing education
and training for spiritually-rooted changemakers, excavating and communicating the transformational
narratives within progressive spiritual traditions, and by connecting a network of faith communities, social
justice organizations, and activists working towards economic justice.
The Ignite Institute is an incubator and hub for spirituality and social transformation. We are gathering a
community where spiritual leaders, social innovators, community leaders, and artists have the clarity and
capacity to create a just/moral organization, movement and relationships.
Pacific School of Religion is a progressive, multidenominational
seminary and center for social justice that prepares theologically and
spiritually rooted leaders to work for the well-being of all.
