Notes on Pacing Guide
There are many different types of texts, lesson plans, computer-assisted courseware, online
courseware, websites, videos, manipulatives, games, and activities that are appropriate for the
College and Career Readiness Adult ESL Civics course. The following course encompasses
two 8 week sessions. Topics appropriate for an Adult ESL Civics are included, as well as
sample texts, online resources, and additional resources specific to the topic area. As
classrooms, students, and teachers are dynamic, not static, this guide is meant to help organize
and not be the final draft for your classroom. Materials and order of progression can be
changed or left out according to the needs of the students and flow of lessons. Teachers are the
experts of their classrooms and student needs.
