Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926.
At the time of her birth, no one thought Elizabeth would
someday become Queen of Great Britain. She was raised in
royal family but was not directly in line for the throne. She
has travelled many countries and met many world leaders.
She probably travelled more miles than any other Queen or
king in the history. She’s the second longest ruling Queen in
Britain’s history.
Queen Elizabeth II was born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra
Mary on April 21st, 1926. Her father was Prince Albert, Duke
of York, and her mother was Elizabeth Bowne-Lyon. She was
the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, who later
became King George and Queen Elizabeth. At the time she
stood third in line of succession to the throne after Edward,
Prince of Wales, and her father, The Duke of York. It was not
expected that her father would become King, or that she
would become Queen. She trained for her Royal duties
before she became Queen. She enjoys riding horses and
loves dogs.
Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip before she became
Queen. Britain has changed in the last decade and she has
less power than Kings and Queens in the past. The elected
Government rules Britain and she has input but does not
have the final say in decisions.
Queen Elizabeth is always well groomed. She has curly, short
hair. She wears lots of jewelry. Queen Elizabeth has been
famous all her life, even when it was not anticipated that she
would ever become queen. Her role is that she is the head of
the state in the United Kingdom and also head of 16 other
countries including Canada and Australia.
Queen Elizabeth is kind because she support many charities.
She’s honest because she never tells lies to other people. She
is good at sport and she loves riding horses and watching
horse racing and horse shows. She also owns some race
horses herself. She has two birthdays. Her real birthday is on
21st April. Her official birthday as Queen is in June.
Queen Elizabeth has made many changes during her rule.
She opened up royal palace for public viewing. She changed
some rules and supports many charities. Queen Elizabeth is
a role model for British women and many women
throughout the world. She has many leadership qualities.
She is noble, sensible, knowledgeable, intelligent, respectful,
calm, gracious and dignified. She listens to advice, is decisive
and hardworking.
Her strengths are loyalty, determination and dedication to
her duties. Some see her weakness being that she is
conservative. She is seen by some to also be a bit cold and
stiff.
People respect her. She has been described as an “incredible
woman”. She is a role model. People look up to her and
admire to her. She is a successful leader.
Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne for so long so it
proves that you don’t have to be young to do something well.
She has been a Queen for 60 years. This shows how strong
and healthy she is. It also shows that you can still work when
you are 86 years old.
