NCCC FAWR Program Advisory Board minutes Date and time 3/11/15 6PM Attendance: Present: Sam Nijensohn, Colleen Goodridge, Bob Lewis, Jacque Couture, Armand Lemieux, Jared Nunnery, Eileen Illuzzi, Allen Yale (late due to history judging at NCUHS) Absent: Trevor Evans and Rebecca (Brown? Hunt? (e) Date to review 2015 applications and rating criteria to be considered. (f) Confirm 2014 scholarship recipients, review, and approve checks to be written and sent. (g) Scholarship fund balance. (h) Future fundraising. Other Business Next meeting – date, time, place Adjourn Additional Discussions and Details: Bob Lewis- Derby Fish and Game Club- contact by email – maybe tree work WMA’s (Jared Nunnery)- apple tree release- with Lou Bushy and Cedric Alexander Introductions: my background Eileen- program flexibility as the advisory board advises and the community finds needs (jobs) Bob Lewis relating about major improvements in career center under Eileen’s directorship Jacque raises Q about student interest and how that drives the program’s directions Eileen responds- need to look at local economy and train for jobs that exist among other factors Can’t always base a program on student interest for various reasons discussed Impossible to cover” everything” in FAWR- not enough time/ expertise varies… Bob- we need to “blow our own horn”… ideas presented include: Scott Wheeler’s radio program? 6:30 Sunday morning… though (Jack was on last week)… TV Station Jared says Northern Woodlands would love the story of the Thoreau cabin… Colleen says a perfect fit for” outstanding use of wood” award (Northern Logger) * I WILL PUT TOGETHER A SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT AND SEND IT OUT to Jared and Colleen for these purposes Brad Gillian at Leader may be worth contacting at Leader for Ed.
