RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION IN THE COMPARATIVE INTERNAL MEDICINE LABORATORY AND COMPARATIVE ONCOLOGY LABORATORY MU’s Department of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery Columbia, MO The University of Missouri (MU), College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks applications for a research associate faculty position in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the CVM's overall goals through collaborative research and management of immunology-related projects of large animal species/companion animals in the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory and the Comparative Oncology Laboratory and tissue banking activities for the Canine Comparative Oncology and Genomics Consortium. He/she may be expected to supervise other laboratory personnel including technicians, fellows, and undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Qualifications include a PhD in immunology or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have experience in laboratory techniques including (but not limited to) flow cytometry, ELISA/ELISPOT, Real-time PCR, western blot, light and fluorescence microscopy and cell culture. Prefer experience handling laboratory animals. The competitive candidate will have experience in use of computer software for flow cytometric analysis, primer design, real-time PCR quantification analysis, Microsoft Office, and statistical analysis. The successful applicant will be able to perform literature searches to identify and implement new laboratory techniques. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate good organizational and communication/instructional skills. Applicants will be expected to adapt existing protocols or develop de novo immunologic assays that can be used in the assessment of a variety of spontaneous and induced immune-mediated, neoplastic or immunodeficiency disorders of companion animals. Research experience, communication skills, organizational skills, ability to develop and troubleshoot immunologic assays, experience working effectively in diverse environments and letters of reference will all be considered in selection of a candidate. The potential for the candidate to succeed within the framework of the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory and the Comparative Oncology Laboratory will also be assessed.
