Description
Attachment is the deep emotional bond that develops between you and your child
during the first year of life. Having a strong attachment with your child makes your
child feel safe, secure and loved.
Join our Child Safety Public Health Nurse for an information session on child
passenger safety and learn how to transport your child safely. You will learn:
what the law says about car seats and your child, what type of car seat your child
should be in, how to secure your child correctly in the car seat and in the car.
Comfort, Play & Teach is a multi-session program that builds parenting
confidence, strengthens the parent-child bond, enriches the moment for the child
and parent and ultimately opens a world of possibilities for you both.
This presentation focuses on how play and early sensory stimulation affects brain
development and how it prepares the stage for future learning.
Did you know that it’s recommended that your child wear a helmet while
tobogganing?
To learn more about how to keep your child safe this season, come join the Child
Safety Public Health Nurse for an information session on Fall and Winter safety.
Children need healthy food to grow well. Learn how to help children be the best
eaters they can be. A Public Health Dietitian will share ideas on using Canada’s
Food Guide to plan healthy meals and snacks.
With a Public Health Dietitian, learn about what, when, and how to give new
foods and textures to baby. You will see how to make your own baby food. Come
join the fun!
This two hour workshop will help parents understand how to raise resilient
children. Children respond differently to the challenges in life. With our guidance
we will show you how to empower your child and nurture these skills so they can
learn to bounce back with confidence.
The certified Infant Massage Instructor will facilitate this five-week program that is
designed to teach parents and caregivers of infants (pre-crawling) a warm,
nurturing, bonding experience through touch.
.Did you know that the most likely place for your child to get injured is in your
home? Join our Child Safety Public Health Nurse for an information session to
lean how to identify the hazards in your home and how to make it a safe place for
your child.
This one session workshop will review the basics and benefits of developing
consistent routines and how to best manage bedtime, homework and everyday
routines. Visuals, organizational skills, pre-planning and transitions will be
discussed.
Learn about fun activities you can include in your daily life. Find out about how
you can increase your chances of feeling well most of the time. Find out about
community resources that can help.
Play is an important part of your child’s development. Through play your child
learns about their world. Playing with your child is the best way for your child to
learn how to share, take turns, get along with others and feel good about
themselves.
This informative session will assist parents who are exploring early learning and
child care options. The session will include an overview of Hamilton Best Start,
resources available in Hamilton, types of early learning and child care, and quality
indicators to look for in making this choice.
Parents/caregivers who attend this workshop will have the opportunity to learn
how to help their babies/toddlers sleep through the night.

Separation Effects Your Child

and suggestions will be discussed to help the parent support the child through
this time.
Temperament is how your child usually acts. Every child has their own unique
temperament. It is neither good nor bad. It’s just who your child is. Join us for
this fun activity-based session that will describe: Why understanding your child’s
temperament is important and how to respond to your child’s unique
temperament.
This one session workshop will review ways to increase their child’s cooperation
