AGRITAS
Agritas
Agritas Trade College Pty Ltd is a new venture here in Smithton located in the heart
of dairy production for Tasmania that has been established by the community to
successfully prepare students for careers in agriculture.
This purpose built facility at 12 Nelson Street, Smithton will be a center of excellence
for agriculture and dairy. The vision is to provide students with a learning experience
to equip them with the skills and knowledge to build a successful career in the
agricultural sector. To complete the learning experience, local farms will provide
field days and workshops to add further context to our student’s experience.
Agriculture provides students with a wide range of career opportunities in this
multimillion dollar industry sector here in Tasmania. The Agritas mission is to add
significant value to the industry in terms of skills and knowledge that will allow people
to pursue an active career in the industry.
Agritas is governed by a Trust Board of Directors and holds charitable trust status
under a Trust Deed.
The future vision for Agritas shared by the board and the management team is one
of adding value to the agriculture and the wider industry sector here in Circular Head
and the wider community.
Agritas Foundation
The Agritas Foundation is the fundraising arm of Agritas Trade College.
It exists to support the vision and mission of the Agritas Board by working with partners
to accept, acknowledge, manage and allocate gifts.
The Agritas Foundation commences in June 2013 and is seeking Inaugural
Foundation partners, ready for the commencement of Agritas Trade College courses
in the coming Financial Year. The Agritas Foundation is seeking partnership funding
for a range of activities, including student scholarships, research, and facilities such
as business incubation and business opportunities that support Agritas.
The Agritas Foundation will become an incorporated association and will be governed
by a board of directors, separate to the Agritas Trade College Board. Agritas
Foundations members that take a Platinum or Gold Sponsorship package will be
entitled to become members of the Agritas Foundation and elect one of the Foundation
Board members.
Through partnerships, the Agritas Foundation hopes to provide opportunities to
benefit the community in the following ways:

Scholarships – to benefit those facing challenging circumstances, farm
apprentices, farm managers and research students
 Agricultural Service Business Incubation – to assist and enable new
agribusiness start-ups
 Research & Development
