Trainings on gardening will raise yield of fruit trees

«In order to get an abundant harvest of sweet fruits, the fruit trees need special care, the most
important element of which is the timely and proper pruning ».
February, 2011 – Fergana region. Series of practical trainings
on "Pruning and formation of fruit trees” were arranged in
Uzbekistan, Beshariq, Qushtepa and Yazyavan districts of
Fergana region. 75 participants have attended practical
trainings to learn the basics of proper and effective care of fruit
trees. Specialists with extensive experience in shaping and
pruning fruit trees, as well as participated in international
training programs in the U.S., France, and Japan were invited
to conduct trainings.
Gardening, particularly in Fergana region, is one of the main
areas of agriculture, which employs most of the region
population and is considered as major activity for rural people, shaping a significant portion of household
income. From recently many gardeners are trying to introduce new innovative methods to increase the volume
of farmed products. One of such important methods is the proper formation and pruning of fruit trees.
Pruning of fruit trees - one of the most active agro-technical
methods. Directly affects to the growth, fruiting, and longevity
of fruit trees, as well as the amount and quality of fruit. In order
to create an abundant and well fruited orchard, the fruit trees
need special care, the most important element of which is the
timelyand proper pruning of fruit trees.
Analogical trainings have been conducted last year and gave
good results. Participants of the last year's training sessions
are already using their new skills in practice. Totally, during 95
people
were
trained
from
the
last
year.
Income generation and creation of new work places in rural areas through supporting private initiatives and
entrepreneurship is one of the key directions of ELS Program activities, financed by the European Union and
implemented by the UNDP in close collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan
"I feel that after the training, all participants will treat the issue of pruning in different way. I'm sure that
it would have profound effect on the yield increasing this year".
