Curriculum at Alsop High School “The school has worked hard to provide a curriculum that is exceptional at meeting the needs of its large and diverse student cohort. The strong emphasis on improving reading skills in Years 7 and 8 helps students to achieve well across the curriculum. Older students benefit from an impressive range of academic and vocational choices, which can be combined in flexible pathways to suit their individual needs. Resources to support the curriculum are of a high standard, for example, in the off-site hairdressing and beauty salon situated in a local high street, which provides a real working environment for students taking those courses. There is also an ‘Applied Learning Centre’ in a local business park where students can follow a range of vocational courses. Enrichment activities cover a wide range of interests and abilities that enhance students’ personal development and help them to live healthier lifestyles.” Ofsted 2011 An outline of the curriculum plan for each subject area in KS3 can be accessed from each subject folder.
