2012/2013
6th grade schedule
The following classes are in the planning stages of being offered next
year for the 2012/2013 6th grade at Woodlawn Beach Middle School.
Classes 1-5 are required………..class 6 is a choice for the student
1. Language Arts
2. Math
Advanced Math
3. Science
4. Social Studies
5. Reading
6. A choice of Band, Chorus or PE.
If a student does not choose Band or Chorus they will be placed
into PE.
Try outs take place in May for placement into Band or Chorus.
Placement into the 6th grade Advanced Math class will be according
to grades from the 5th grade Math class of a 94 or higher yearly
average.
Gifted class will be the Social Studies class.
Class size considerations may impact the selection of students for
certain classes.
State/County requirements and FCAT scores may also cause
changes in the schedule.
If you are assigned an Intensive Reading class and/or Intensive Math
class due to FCAT scores from the 2012 test, you will not be eligible
for Advanced classes.
2012/2013 7th grade schedule
The following classes are in the planning stages of being offered next year for
the 2012/2013 7th grade at Woodlawn Beach Middle School.
Classes 1-5 are required………class 6 is a choice for the student.

2. Math or
Advanced Math
3. Science
or
Advanced Science
4. Social Studies
5. PE
6. A choice of Band, Chorus, Yearbook(application required) or Wheel class
(Wheel will rotate between classes to be determined)
If a student does not choose Band or Chorus they will be placed into the
Wheel rotation automatically.
Placement into the Advanced classes will be as follows:
94 average or higher required in the particular subject area class for those
students who were in regular classes during the 11/12 school year.
85 average or higher required in that particular subject area class for those
students who were in advanced classes during the 11/12 school year.
Gifted class will be the Social Studies class.
Student schedules are subject to change due to individual results on the 2012
FCAT test or if other special classes are required. State and County
requirements may also cause changes in the schedule.
If you are assigned an Intensive Reading and/or Intensive Math class due to
FCAT scores from the 2012 test, you will not be eligible for Advanced classes.

Students have the opportunity to apply for Band, Chorus, or Yearbook before the
end of the 11/12 school year.
Gifted class will be the Social Studies class.
Placement into the Advanced classes will be as follows:
For placement into Language Arts Advanced class, the student must have
scored :
94 or higher in the 11/12 Regular class.
85 or higher in the 11/12 Advanced class.
For placement into Advanced Science class, the student must have scored
94 or higher in the 11/12 Regular class.
85 or higher in the 11/12 Advanced class.
Also a Math requirement of 94 or higher Reg. math…85 or higher for Adv Math
For placement into the Advanced Math classes the student must have scored:
Algebra 1 Honors…must have 94 or higher in Advanced 7th grade Math
Algebra 1….Must have 85-93 in Advanced 7th grade Math
or
94 or higher in regular 7th grade Math
All other students will be placed into 8th grade Math.
Schedules are subject to change due to individual results on the 2012 FCAT test,
special classes that are required, and State or Local requirements.
If you are assigned an Intensive Reading class and/or Intensive
Math class due to scores from the 2012 FCAT test, you will not
be eligible for any Advanced classes.
