Use door to left of flag pole to check in at Midview High School and you will be met and escorted to an assigned room. 2. If you plan to attend the meet, please fill out the event request/entry form and return it to Midview no later than 9 October 2015.You may bring the entry fee of $75.00 with you on 7 November, 2015. 3. Enclosed in this packet is: a list of rules and regulations, floor dimensions, all drill sheets. Please note we have transitioned to National Drill Standards and have deleted the Academic Quiz Bowl. Please let us know if you need directions or a hotel listing. The drill competition will begin with Commander’s Call at 0800 on Floor A, (Kubuski Gym), and the competition will start at 0830. Please respond so we can have an accurate schedule set up. Deadline to respond is 9 October 2015 with the Flights you will be bringing. Also, if you have any questions, please call us at (440) 748-5227. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN FOOD – we help cover expenses for competition from food sales. If Flights bring their own food, the entry fee will have to be increased to the cover cost of hosting a drill competition. Our prices are very reasonable. NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN CLASSROOMS AND GYMNASIUMS. B. No horseplay in rooms or hallways. C. Do not touch anything in the classrooms except the whiteboard; it may be used to write the schedule and the attached thank you note. D. Do not use any of the electronic equipment, TV’s, VCR’s, computers, etc. E. Do not allow any other unit’s cadets into your room. F. If anything is damaged or broken, it is your unit’s responsibility to fix it. The Midview Local School District will not be responsible for anything that is broken and or missing. G. Leave the room exactly as you found it. H. Shoes will not be polished in the school building. A fee will be charged to cover the cost of custodial services. I. NO DRILL PRACTICING IS ALLOWED IN THE SCHOOL, however, if time and weather permits, outdoor practice is acceptable. J. Please write a thank you note on the board for the teacher whose room you are using; a sample note is attached. K. Your unit will provide security of weapons and other belongings; Midview will not be providing room guards. L. NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED IN DRILL AREAS AND HALLWAYS. This can result in Flight disqualification. Cell phones are only allowed in your unit’s designated room. II. Concerning Smoking A. The Midview Local School District has a zero tolerance policy in effect for all tobacco products; therefore no usage of tobacco products will be tolerated on the premises. B. Any school with a cadet found smoking will not be eligible for overall placing, disqualified from knock-out, and asked to leave immediately. III. Cafeteria Rules A. All food and drink must be kept in the concession sales area. This rule will be enforced! B. All tables must be cleaned after usage; there will be no staff on hand to clean them. C. Trash must be taken care of and put into the appropriate receptacle. D. If something is spilled, inform one of the cadets/adults working, so that it can be taken care of. E. The Midview JROTC will be offering fairly priced food for breakfast and lunch. IV. Gymnasium/Drill Floor Rules A. THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO ENTERING OR EXITING THE DRILL FLOOR WHILE A FLIGHT IS COMPETING. B. NO FOOD OR DRINK WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE DRILL FLOORS. V. Respect A. Cadets will not stop for officers in hallways. IV. Locker rooms (male and female) /: will be available for cadets to change clothes. They are located near Floor B (Small Gym). Competition Facts I. Minimum of 6 cadets and a commander b. 1 Flight per unit D. Advanced Armed IDR a. Minimum of 6 cadets and a commander b. 1 Flight per unit c. Commander may also carry a saber or side arm d. Inspection Arms must be given at the beginning and end of the Drill e. Rifle butt pads required E. Exhibition Drill Flight a. Minimum of 6 cadets and a commander b. 6 minutes minimum / 10 minutes maximum c. Time starts when the Flight enters the Drill floor and stops when the Flight exits the floor d. 1 Flight per unit F. Exhibition Armed Drill Flight (Unarmed) a. Minimum of 6 cadets and a commander b. 6 minutes minimum / 10 minutes maximum c. To limit damage to the facility and personal injuries: No tossing of weapons into the air due to low ceiling on the drill competition floor G. Individual & Duet Armed Exhibition (Sign Up at the Entry Door before 11:00AM) a. $1.00 per cadet b. 2-3 minutes c. Must report in and report out d. Uniform: Class B/Short Sleeve e. Cover optional f. Rifle butt-pads required g. No other stipulations H. First Year IDR a. Minimum of 6 cadets and a commander b. 1 Flight per unit I. First Year Color Guard a. 4 cadets b. 2 Flights per unit, the highest scoring CG will go towards overall placement c. Must be commanded from the American Flag position d. Minimum of 6 cadets and a commander b. 1 Flight per unit c. Commander can also carry a saber or side arm d. Inspection Arms must be given at the beginning and end of the Drill e. Rifle butt pads required f. Style of March Each service may retain its style of March at our competition. Ex. Army does not have to convert to the Air Force style of March. Knockout There will be both first year, and Advanced Knock-out rounds. Knockout costs $1 per cadet. The Top Ten Cadets will receive medals. Class - A or dress uniform is to be worn properly during ALL drills; with the exception of Armed/Unarmed Exhibition, Individuals, and Duets. Uniforms for these events are left to the discretion of cadets and Flight commanders. Armed/Unarmed Exhibition, Individuals, Duets, and Color Guards are permitted to wear berets, gloves, ascots, etc. Any cadet competing on a first year Flight MUST be a first year cadet in the JROTC program, not a second or third year cadet who has never been on a drill Flight before. Failure to abide by this rule will result in disqualification from overall placing V Rules for Overall Placement A. First Year IDR, First Year Armed IDR, First Year Color Guard, Advanced Unarmed IDR, Advanced Armed IDR, Advanced Color Guard, Unarmed Exhibition, and Unarmed Inspection Flight will be counted towards overall placement. B. Female Color Guard and Armed Exhibition will NOT be counted towards Overall Placement. C. Freshman Color Guard: the higher score will go towards Overall Placement. D. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by placement of the Advanced Unarmed IDR VI Reporting Procedures A. Eyes right is reporting out for First Year Armed Drill, Exhibition Flights do not need to report out, all other Flights must report out. a. Reporting out will be: “Sir/Ma’am, this concludes the (Unit Number) (School Name) AFJROTC/AJROTC/NJROTC (Flight), respectfully requesting permission to exit your drill floor Sir/Ma’am.” Drill Floors There are three drill floors A- The large Kubuski Gym West side of building * B- The small gym, Center of building C- The Lunch room- We call APR (All Purpose Room) In the center of the building *Two Color Guards will be competing at the same time on the 84’x 50’ floor with a divider along the center* Armed Individuals and Duets will be on the 40’ x 40’ floor (APR) Small Gym is 50’x 84’ Inspection will be held in room 302 (Choir Room) Knockout and Awards Ceremony will be on Floor A (Large Gym) Also Note: The schedule will show the floors the teams are to compete on.
