Policy Name Scholarships Policy Policy Group Educational Policies > Students > Fees and Scholarships Policy Reference Number ED.01.06.05 – 006 Purpose To document the circumstances under which CIT offers student scholarships providing financial support which recognises a student’s academic excellence, consistent effort and /or financial hardship. Scope All currently enrolled domestic students. The selection process and awarding of ACT Government Scholarships is managed according to this policy. Only Indigenous Australian students with Proof of Aboriginality may apply for CIT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarships. Scholarships are not available to International students. Definitions Proof of Aboriginality CIT will accept as evidence, eligibility for Abstudy or a Certificate of Confirmation of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander descent. In some instances Birth Certificate evidence will be accepted by the Director of CIT Yurauna Centre. Scholarship A financial/resource support to a student, paid in the course of their study program. Fee Assistance ACT Government Fee Assistance is available to help new and continuing students experiencing financial hardship to meet the costs of studying at CIT. Principles 1. Scholarships must have clear criteria against which students can apply. 2. The sponsoring organisation for institute wide student scholarships must be approved by the Deputy Chief Executive. The selection process must be carried out by a panel agreed by CIT and the sponsoring organisation. 5. CIT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship holders will be entitled to a fee waiver. 6. Other institute wide scholarship holders will be charged fees at the concession rate if they are eligible for a concession. 7.
