PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Aquatics Manager plays an integral part in achieving this outcome by delivering aquatic
services which exceed customer expectations and provide a quality leisure experience.
Specifically the Aquatics Manager will:

Provide facility users with a clean, enjoyable and safe aquatic environment including
the application of Recreation New Zealand’s Pool Safe best practice

Encourage usage through promotion of the facility and high standards of customer
service.

Lead the Lifeguard Team in meeting customer needs promptly and courteously in
terms of information, service, access and support.

Ensure lifeguards are trained, qualified and able to deliver services to national standards.
POSITION DIMENSIONS
Total number of employees under your control:
3 to 5 Full time Equivalent Staff, including Lifeguards,
Coaching Staff. A number of staff roles are part-time or on
job share meaning up to 12 or more staff may be
employed.
Operating budget:
Oversee staff rosters and payroll authorization.
Delegation will be provided for normal operational
expenditure.
Capital budget:
To be considered by the Trust
Comments of any changes likely within 12 months: The operation of the pool facility will be reviewed over
the next 12 months including appropriate levels of delegation.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES
Key technical tasks
Promote excellent
frontline customer
service.

Have a detailed knowledge of all services provided through
the pool in order to:
Convey accurate information to staff and customers
Promote the pool and its services to prospective customers
and cater to the needs of existing customers.
Lead staff in the delivery of best customer service within
resources available.
To interact with customers and relay feedback to the Facility
Manager, on how best to cater to customer needs.
To respond to enquires from the community, ensuring all are
dealt with promptly in a fair and friendly manner.
To provide a well
maintained
environment.
The facility is clean and ready for customers at all times.
Operation of the preventative maintenance programme.
Attend to reactive repairs and maintenance as
required.
To ensure that the pool water quality meets NZ standard

Carry out regular inspections of plant, equipment and the
working environment and keep maintenance sheets up to date.

Liaise with all structured user groups to maximise

Monitor expenditure on Chemicals, Cleaning
products and training to ensure best use of
resources is maintained.
Ensure that the Shop is well managed.

Inform management promptly if there are
foreseen issues or changes which may affect the
delivery of services within budget.
Support the pool office.
When on duty ensure the

efficiently.
To ensure the procedures and standards relating
to operation of the pool office contained with in
the Pool Operating Procedure/Pool Safe Manual
are carried out to the required standard
