The exception to this is an adult rider 18 years old and over who wishes to return to the walk/trot or jog division because off age, injury, or physical condition. They may do so with a written request to the board of directors before the start of their show season. If the request is granted they may then show and stay in walk/trot or jog division.4. It is up to each and every TVHA, Inc. member to apprise themselves to all TVHA, Inc. rules and rule changes and follow them to the best of their ability. 5. All protests must be submitted in writing and signed by a paid up member in good standing to the Board of Directors for consideration and resolution. 6. Any TVHA. Inc. member, spouse, sibling, child or parent, of any member, may not judge any TVHA, Inc. pointed show. 7. Open beginner is an exhibitor any age in their first or second year of showing in that division. 8. Ladies and Men’s classes are those in that gender at any age. If Ladies is offered, Men’s must also for either to be pointed towards Open. 9. Proper western attire is required in all western classes; chaps are optional. 10. A member cannot receive points if they have had dealings with the judge within a 30-day period. This includes: lessons, training, sale/purchase of a horse, showing of or for. 11. TVHA board of directors is voluntary and can participate in TVHA managed/pointed shows. Article X - TVHA INC. POINTED SHOW AND CLASS RULES RULES: 1. TVHA, Inc. may point multiple shows per day, as long as seats are not duplicated on that day. Revised 03/2012 Page 10 Tri- Valley Horseman’s Association Inc. Official Rule Book and By-law’s 2. Points for all classes will be 6-5-4-3-2-1-. A filled class is a minimum of six (6) exhibitors. Classes with less than six will be pointed accordingly, i.e. three entries 3-2-1, etc. 3. Championships will not carry points. 4. A class must be offered in at least two (2) shows for a year-end award to be given. 5. Breed and County classes will not be pointed and will be considered as miscellaneous classes. 6. Classes or events not in compliance with TVHA, Inc. rules will not be pointed and will be considered as miscellaneous classes. 7. A current TVHA, Inc. rulebook should be readily available at the secretary stand at each TVHA, Inc. pointed show. 8. The Judge’s decision is final. All petitions to the judge must be made in writing to the Show secretary. Judges should not tie any placing in fifth place or higher. If this is done, the points must be divided in half for that placing. For example: If there is a tie for first place, the first and second placing will be added together (9) and divided in half, each rider will receive 4.5 points. 9. Show programs must specify type of show. There are nine (9) types: a. Open d. Saddle Seat g. Gymkhana b. Western e. Dressage h. Junior c. Hunter f. Driving i. any combination of b-h 10. All non-pointed classes should be listed on program or posted at the secretary stand the day of the show. 11. TVHA, Inc. recommends that all programs state “it is required that approved safety helmets” are to be worn in all Hunt seat classes by riders 17 & under. 12. All programs should state that proper attire is required for each division. 13. TVHA, Inc. recommends, as per ADS rules, that all drivers under 14 years of age be accompanied by an adult driver. 14. Open classes in all divisions must include adults and juniors, horses and ponies, mares geldings and stallions, junior horse and senior horse with age split of 5 & under, 6 & over or any age split as long as all ages are covered with no duplication of age. 15. Junior classes may be split horse and pony or horse/pony 5 & under and horse/pony 6 & over or any combination of age split as long as all age groups are covered and there is no duplication of age within one grouping. 16. Junior exhibitors are 17 years old and under as of December 1st of the previous year. If junior classes are to be divided, they must include 14 - 17 and 13 & under. 17. Trail and Dressage may be run on an outside course in a designated area. 18. All Open one (1) day TVHA, Inc. shows must consist of at least twenty-five (25) pointable classes. All one (1) seat shows must have fifteen (15) pointable classes In two (2) or three (3) day shows there must be at least fifteen (15) pointable classes each day, with the exception of gymkhana classes; with no restrictions on the number of pointable classes. 19. In two (2) or three(3) day shows where classes are repeated (i.e. Open pony halter all seats) only the highest points will be recorded. 20. Classes that specify all seats must be offered (i.e. Open pony halter all seats) to all seats to be pointed. 21. In all performance classes three (3) accumulative refusals or fall of horse or rider is automatic elimination. 22. Going off course is automatic elimination. No TVHA points will be awarded to a horse/rider that is off course and class sheets should reflect no placing. 23. Prize money may be paid in any equitation, horsemanship, showmanship or reinsmanship classes. 24. AQHA patterns and rules are to be used in western performance and gymkhana events. 25. An exhibitor may show more than one horse in a performance class provided each horse wears a different number. 26. Broken tack during an event may be replaced or repaired (Maximum of three (3) minute hold time) except Gymkhana. 27. No re-runs allowed in gymkhana except for malfunction of the timer. 28. Shows must use standard barrels, poles, bridges, jumps, etc. for safety. 29. Miscellaneous classes are not pointable classes. 30. All divisions of walk/trot or jog do not have to be offered to be pointed but the following combinations may be offered: A. 10 years and under D. Any combinatation of A,B,C, B. 11 years to 17 years as long as their is no duplication of an age group C. Adult - 18 years and over 31. As long as everyone in an age division, that TVHA points, fit into a breakdown of age at a show where the whole division is in the same class, then that division will be pointed. If exhibitors from one of the above age brackets fall under 2 different classes, then that division is not pointed. Ex: if the divisions at the show are 11 and under, 12-17 and 18 and over, then the 10 and under is pointed and the adult is pointed but the 11-17 division would not be pointed because the children in that division fall under 2 classes (11 & under and 12-17). Ex 2: if the division at the show is 14-18, than the 14-17 division will be pointed since everyone in our 14-17 division can show in that class but if the same show offers adult at 19 and over, the adult division cannot be pointed since the 18 year olds would fall under a different class. 32. Any division added the day of a pointed show will not carry TVHA points. Revised 03/2012 Page 11 Tri- Valley Horseman’s Association Inc. Official Rule Book and By-law’s 33. It is strongly recommended that all youth 14 & under wear an ASTM helmet when handling or around horses. 34. Lead line entries may show in in-hand classes.
