Task Outline
In this task you are required to conduct an historical investigation into life during the Shang dynasty. You
must create an educational resource that guides other students to learn about your chosen topic.
Step 1
Choose a topic and formulate three (or more) inquiry questions relevant to your topic.

Step 2
Conduct research to answer your inquiry questions and record notes and bibliography in the scaffold
provided.

Step 3
Create an educational resource based on your research that will guide other students to learn about your
chosen topic. One of your peers will complete your educational activity and provide you with feedback
via email.
Due Friday Week 6
Step 4
Make any amendments to your educational activity based on peer feedback and submit to the teacher
with a correctly formatted bibliography and completed reflection sheet.

Context
This is the fourth assessment task for this subject, where you will have to undertake an historical
inquiry into one aspect of life in ancient China during the Shang dynasty. The skills involved in
conducting an investigation will be a part of your assessment throughout high school and in further
tertiary studies, as well as being an important employment related skill.
Assessment Criteria
In this task, you will be assessed on your ability to:
 Formulate inquiry questions related to your chosen topic.
 Research the topic and use a variety of historical evidence to answer your questions.
 Create an informative and engaging educational resource that helps other students to learn about
your chosen topic.
 Prepare a correctly referenced bibliography of all sources used.
