Household Hazardous Waste Curbside Collection The Dauphin County Department of Solid Waste Management & Recycling, with funding help from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, provides a free, once-a-year hazardous waste collection of each Dauphin County Household. Under this program, Dauphin County residents can properly dispose of the following items: anti-freeze, batteries, brake fluid, chemical strippers, chlorine bleach, contact cement, drain cleaners, fire extinguishers, flea collars and sprays, herbicides, insect repellant, insecticides, kerosene, lawn chemicals, lighter fluid, lye, mothballs, nail polish remover, old propane tanks, oven cleaners, paints, pesticides, pool chemicals, solvents, spot removers, stains and finishes, toilet cleaners and used motor oil. Curbside, Inc. contracts with Dauphin County to provide a curbside collection service for these materials. All collections are by appointment only.
