2016 GSV Betting Program [use Betting Program Template 2016] [Update Feb 2016] Race Day 1. Get Scratches, if any; Make changes in rankings if it affects the betting selections: Sire Ranking from 1-4; Dam Rankings from 1-4 and Sire Rankings from 1-5. 2. Check to see if the qualifiers will fall within Odds ranges given below Rules 1) Wagers in order of preference: Green over Brown, Brown over Blue, Blue over Purple 2) Both Green and Brown bets require at least 8 betting interests in the race 3) Blue and Purple bets require at least 6 betting interests in the race 4) Maiden Special Weight races are evaluated differently than all other races [see rule X] 5) Minimum/Maximum Odds range [strength of each] A. Green Bet 20/65 [decent sire, high DamGSV, highly ranked, SW or $100,000+ dam] B. Brown Bet 13/51 [good pedigree, well balanced] C. Blue Bet 6/65 [high SireGSV, average to good dam, Dam high class runner] D. Purple Bet 8/51 [solid pedigree] 6) Single qualifiers rank higher than multiple qualifiers in order of above preferences. 7) If there is only one Green and it is singled, then you may also use one other singled color with preference to Brown then Blue then lastly purple. 8) Two Green selections in the race cancel each other out and are not bet regardless what other qualifiers they may carry, if any. 9) If the Green selection in a race is also a Brown Selection then this horse becomes a bet and if another horse has a singled Blue it also becomes a bet in the same racem but not if there are two singled blues. You may also use a single purple if there is no single blue. 10) A Brown selection that is also a Purple selection is basically counted as a single Purple bet because these bets differ basically only in the number of betting interests in the race [8 for Brown and 6 for Purple]. Therefore, if a Brown is coupled with Purple and the only other potential bet is a Purple you may use both as bets in that race. If another horse in the race is a Blue single bet, it becomes the only bet as Blue has preference over purple. 11) A Single Blue selection is given preference over a Blue coupled with a Purple because singles rank higher than multiple selections with the exception of a Green, Brown. 12) If there are two single blues, use neither as they cancel each other out like 2 Green. 13) If there are two singe purples, use the one with the highest Sire GSV score. 14) In Maiden Special Weight races, Only single Green, Brown, Blue and Purple selections can be played in that order and no more than the top two highest single betting preferences. If there are no single selections you the skip the race except if there is only one multiple selection bet, which then becomes the only bet in the race. Example of a big GSV race card hit using the rules above There are three playable bets in this race below: Air Squadron, Giant Cat and Poco Man. Two of the horses are out of SW dams [or earned over $100,000] [Orange background]; Giant Cat and Bluegrass Jam. After checking the scratches, the #6 horse is out, but his scores and rankings are so low as to not change the bets by moving other horses into a playable bet. At the same time Poco Man was sitting 3/1 and eventually went off at 3.80/1 so he was never a play. This leaves us with only Giant Cat who for a long time ranged between 30 and 40/1, well under his upper limit. As it turns out he almost went off at too high of odds for me to bet him. The 65/1 was chosen before the test run of this program was set as horses that go off at higher odds are extremely unlikely to win. How the race looked at the time of making the bet. He fit the criteria for the Blue bet because his Sire score was greater than 71 and between 62 and 74.75 for the Dam score; his dam was a SW or earner of more than $100,000, which you can tell from the template as the Orange background in the Sex and Age cells. When I bet my $5 to win with 3 minutes to go, Giant Cat’s odds were only 50/1 and so I thought he would easily fit within the criteria. Please note, however, that horses with odds of 50/1 a few minutes from post often can go off at odds higher than the allowable range so it pays to pay attention to last minute betting as the extra money almost always comes in on the shorter priced horses.
