Pay out of Awards




1st Place Award will be paid out in four (4) annual installments
provided the Maintenance/Renewal Requirements are met.
2nd Place Award will be paid out in two (2) annual installments
provided the Maintenance/Renewal Requirements are met.
3rd Place Award will be paid out in one (1) lump sum.
Honorable Mention Awards will be paid out in one (1) lump sum.
PLEASE NOTE: Scholarships are paid directly to the learning institution
on the recipient’s behalf, NOT to the individual student.
STEPS TO RECEIVING YOUR SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
STEP 1:
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT LETTER
The scholarship recipient will write a letter of appreciation to NAWBO-SA which Entrepreneurial
Connections® will make available to the donor of the scholarship funds. Funds will not be dispersed
until the letter is received by the Entrepreneurial Connections® Committee.
Please include the following in the Acknowledgement Letter:








Address your letter to: NAWBO-SA Foundation, Entrepreneurial Connections, P.O. Box 460724,
San Antonio, TX 78246.
The letter should be typewritten, signed, have a neat appearance and be free of grammatical and
spelling errors. No more than 500 words.
Your appreciation for the scholarship that you received, and your plans for utilizing the funds.
Appreciation to the donor (NAWBO-SA Foundation) for providing the funds for the
Entrepreneurial Connections® Scholarship.
Educational background (your year in school and school name).
Accomplishments/achievements (obstacles you have overcome to attend college).
Extracurricular activities (stories about a relevant extra-curricular or community service project
that impacted your life).
Goals and aspirations (your future plans-both immediate and long term; include career you wish
to pursue).

STEP 2:
PROOF OF ENROLLMENT
Please submit proof of enrollment along with your completed REQUEST FOR SCHOLARSHIP
FUNDS form. If your scholarship amount is paid out in installments, proof of enrollment must be
included each time request is submitted. This may include a school transcript with GPA from the
institution of higher learning you are enrolled in, or a class schedule for the semester.
STEP 3:
REQUEST FOR SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
Use the attached Request for Scholarship Funds form when contacting Entrepreneurial Connections®
for pay out of your scholarship award. NAWBO-SA® must receive the fund request in sufficient time to
meet the payment deadline. Information to show that you have maintained the scholarship requirements
must be included with your request (such as a school transcript with GPA or class schedule).
STEP 4:
MAINTENANCE/RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS
Conditions for Keeping Your NAWBO Scholarship:
As a Scholarship Award recipient, you agree to the following in order to receive distribution of your
award:

Within 18 months of their scheduled high school graduation, the student must be enrolled, or
accepted for enrollment on a full-time basis (at least 12 credit hours) as an undergraduate
student at a learning institution, trade school, college or university that is accredited by an
agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or licensed by the state in which it is
located.

Complete and earn a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year and maintain full-time
status (12 credit hours) each semester.

Recipients must have a grade point average of at least a 2.3 at the end of every spring term in
order to continue eligibility. Conduct probation will result in an automatic loss of all future
Entrepreneurial Connections® Scholarship funding.

An incomplete grade in a course will count as a failing grade.

Students failing to make satisfactory academic progress will lose eligibility for renewal of their
Entrepreneurial Connections® scholarship. An Appeal explaining special circumstances must
be in writing and submitted with appropriate documentation to the President of NAWBO-SA,
P.O. Box 460724, San Antonio, Texas 78246.

Scholarships are paid directly to the learning institution on the recipient’s behalf.

Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, supplies, or dormitory room and board.
