We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including Health and Well-Being; Creative Arts; Intergenerational Work; Connecting Neighbours & Active Participation; and Trips, Outings and Holidays. Our projects include: an Older People's Lunch Club, Gold & Silver Players Drama Club, The Contact Club, The Little Club, Somali Elders Group, Yoga, T’ai Chi for Elders, Line Dancing, Pottery, Mental Health Carers Group, and Dance with the Royal Academy of Dance. We work with older people to: Encourage active and independent living Reduce isolation and loneliness Improve well-being and prevent ill-health Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community. Key Objectives for this Role Manage the catering for KLS’ Older People’s Lunch Club Roles & Responsibilities 1. Planning Support the planning of KLS’ older people’s service with older people themselves, partners and funders – this will include regular menu planning with our older members Support KLS’ Older people’s Outreach & Support Worker to recruit and support new members 2. Delivery Prudently shop and buy fresh food weekly including managing a small budget Prepare, cook and serve healthy meals ensuring dietary needs are met Set up and clean up the dining room and kitchen (which is a shared space with other groups) Actively support the social and support needs of our older people as appropriate Keep accurate records (attendance and financial) to help monitor and evaluate our Older People’s Lunch Club To be part of and work closely with the elders team at KLS 3. Manage Volunteers Take responsibility for managing individual volunteers as and when appropriate 4. Undertake Other Duties Undertake any other appropriate tasks, as agreed with your line manager Person Specification Skills and Experience Track record of catering and cooking Proven experience of working with older people in community settings Strong communication skills – both verbal and written In-depth understanding of healthy eating and nutrition Full understanding of health & safety including food hygiene Financial budgeting skills Experience of managing volunteers Personal attributes to include being: caring and compassionate / hard working / organised / creative / take initiative / reliable / ability to work under pressure Ability to work as part of a small team, whilst also working independently Knowledge of Battersea / Wandsworth Committed to KLS’s mission, vision and values Essential / Desirable E E E E E E D E E D E Further Information Katherine Low Settlement is committed to equal opportunities.
