I. Overview
A.
Arkwest Communications believes that the youth of today are the
foundation on which our future will be built, both socially and
economically. In order to help provide a positive socio-economic
environment, we must encourage our high school graduates to obtain
the best college education available to them. In doing so, we must
hope that these future graduates will return the rewards of such
education to our communities.
B.
The Arkwest Communications scholarships are available for high
school students who have evidenced a capable desire to acquire a
college education and who have a financial need for such
scholarships. The typical recipient will be an individual whose
actions compliment his/her community and who is genuinely
concerned about the welfare of the community.
II. Scholarship Description
A.
Three (3) scholarships will be awarded annually to qualifying students
entering the first year of college. The scholarships will be full tuition
paid for two (2) semesters, excluding room-board, books and other
costs. Such scholarships shall be offered only to students who plan to
attend a four (4) year State-supported University within Arkansas. No
scholarships are available for education received at private
institutions, or educational facilities outside the state of Arkansas.
B.
Should a student maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during
their second semester, such students’ tuition will be paid for the
following semester.
(For the purpose of determining GPA, Arkwest Communications
uses the students’ overall cumulative GPA.)
C.
The scholarship benefits will continue to roll over to the next semester
provided the student maintains an cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
D.
To be eligible for any portion of the scholarship the student must take
at least twelve (12) hours of classes during any given semester, unless
the student has less than twelve (12) hours to complete their degree
program.
E.
The scholarship program terminates four (4) years after the students’
date of high school graduation. No benefits are paid after four (4)
years have passed from the date students graduated high school.
F.
Ultimately, a student could have all eight (8) semesters of a four (4)
year college program tuition paid.
G.
No form of summer school will be paid under this scholarship.

Communications will send payment to the University.
IV. Administration
A.
Each recipient of the scholarships will receive a letter verifying their
selection as a recipient of the scholarship.
B.
The recipient will be asked to submit the name of the institution in
which they plan to attend, along with the address of the institution's
office of admissions. Such notice must be received in a timely
manner to ensure proper payment of semester tuition.
C.
Compensation for tuition will be paid when each semester’s tuition is
due, after Arkwest Communications is in receipt of a copy of the
student’s school transcript, proving the student has a cumulative GPA
of 3.0 or higher, and a copy of the student’s tuition statement,
Arkwest Communications will then proceed with payment. (It is the
student’s responsibility to furnish their transcript and tuition
statement in a timely manner to ensure payment.)
D.
One check will be made payable to the name of the University and the
name of the recipient as co-payees for the total sum due for the
semester tuition. The check will be mailed to the office of admissions
or registrar, whichever is appropriate, of the University.
V.
Suspension
A.
In the event that the student fails to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
during the second semester or afterwards, the scholarship will be
suspended for the next semester. (For the purpose of determining
GPA, we use the student’s overall cumulative GPA.)
B.
Should the student raise their cumulative GPA to 3.0 or higher at any
time before the four (4) years of the scholarship benefits terminate, the
scholarship will be reinstated and tuition paid for the following
semester, but not exceeding the last semester of the four (4) year
