This Conference is being held in support of the South African hosting of the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) and the promotion of a “Science World Cup” that would bring investment and opportunities in the Northern Cape Province, South Africa as well as the eight other African countries that will host remote antenna stations. In order to ensure the strategic participation of the social sciences in the celebration of a revival of Astronomy research in South Africa, this conference focuses on topics related to the social science that are in celebration of African Astronomy. The conference will bring together participants from diverse research fields to deliberate on the reemergence of astronomy in Africa through the transdisciplinary interface of knowledge systems. Scholars across disciplines and academic backgrounds will discuss the historical use and impact of astronomy in the development of mankind’s understanding of the universe. Take the fork to the right. 6) Immediately after this fork, turn left onto the interchange and continue following the N3/ N1/ Pretoria signs 7) Proceed past all the Sandton and Randburg off-ramps 8) From here follow points 2 to 11: From Johannesburg and Gauteng From Johannesburg and Gauteng: 1) Head west along N1 (concrete ring highway) just north of Johannesburg. 2) Exit from N1 at 14th Avenue off-ramp. 3) Turn right under highway, then right again at second set of traffic lights. You are now on the M47 to Krugersdorp / Tarlton (you will pass Hillfox Power Centre on your right). 4) Proceed along the M47 through ten sets of traffic lights. After approx. 15km you will reach a four way intersection distinguished by a Sasol Petrol Station on the opposite left hand side of the intersection. (Muldersdrift Laerskool is just before this intersection on the left-hand side) 5) Proceed straight across. 6) Continue along the M47, which now becomes the N14 (to Ventersdorp) for approx 10.5km, when you will reach a T-junction. Opposite and to the right is a Zenex Petrol Station. 7) Turn right onto the R563 and continue straight, signposted to Hekpoort. 8) Continue on this road for approx 8.5km after which you will meet the R24 to Magaliesburg on the Left. (This road also identified by the Maropeng sign, turning to the same direction) 9) Turn left onto the R24 to Magaliesburg, continuing for 12km before reaching an intersection, the R24, indicating Magaliesburg to the right. Turn right and continue straight down the hill for 5.4km into the village of Magaliesburg. 10) Cross over the railway line and turn right in the centre of the Village at the BP Garage. 11) After approx. 500m turn right onto the Valley Lodge Road and continue to the Hotel. From Pretoria: 1) Get onto the R28, which is the highway from Pretoria to Krugersdorp. 2) Proceed for approx. 60km where you will reach a 4-way intersection distinguished by a Sasol Petrol Station opposite on the right hand side. 3) Turn right onto N14 to Tarlton / Ventersdorp. 4) From here follow directions 6 to 11 as above.
