Essential Eligibility Criteria Highlands Hammock State Park Ranger - Led Nature Walks In order to participate in this program, one: Must have the ability to follow visual and/or verbal instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion. Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for a period of 45 minutes to 3 hours. * Time is a rough estimate and may vary depending on individual pace. Must have the ability to walk boardwalks, catwalks, and sandy, uneven terrain for up to ½ to 2 miles independently, with the assistance of a companion, or with an adaptive device. Must have the ability to traverse terrain with a variety of trail surfaces including hard-packed dirt with leaves and grass, shell and gravel, wooden boardwalks, catwalks, and bridges, soft, fine sand, occasional standing water, and slick or muddy spots, independently, with the assistance of a companion, or with an adaptive device. Must have the ability to traverse terrain with occasional obstacles including roots and other plant material, mud, and holes caused by hog rooting or other animal activity, independently, with the assistance of a companion, or with an adaptive device.
