DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES For Reference Only CLASS CODE: 5121 PAY GRADE: 027 CLASS TITLE: HYDROLOGIST - DACS ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is technical professional work as a hydrologist in the Bureau of Pesticides of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Plans programs for collecting data on the chemistry and movement of surface and groundwater, correlating the influence of wells, stream flow, rainfall, geological strata, etc., analyzing trends, and submitting findings and recommendations. Carries out hydrological data evaluation assignments pertaining to various products regulated by the department. Serves as an expert witness providing testimony regarding pesticide and other agricultural products that impact on surface and groundwater. Serves as pesticide hydrology advisor to technical review councils and the department head. Performs related work as required. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of hydrological research and analysis. Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze hydrological data relating to groundwater systems. Ability to develop plans for the collection and analysis of groundwater data. Ability to serve as an expert witness. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A master's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology and five years of professional experience in groundwater hydrology; or A doctorate from an accredited college or university in hydrology and three years of professional experience as described above.
