So it is Sunday March 29 th 2009 and I am using this computer for the first time. What is on my mind is a version of the old
Fire, Earth, Air, Water tetrahedron that has polar opposites, vertex points opposite the four sides of the tetrahedron that represent Salt dissolved in Water, Heaven above Earth, Dust and Thunder carried in Air, Pottery and Metal bowls cast and fired in Fire.
Salt is the Analysis and input into systems and Water is the recombination and Hybridization of systems elements. Air is the Set Point and Thunder (Dust) is probable Emergence,
Pottery is Feed-Back and system mechanism and Fire is natural selection and Extinction. Heaven is generation and Mutation and Earth is product and Phenotype. Heaven is Romantic and
Earth Realistic, Air is Classical and Idealistic and Thunder is
Expressionistic, Salt is Impressionistic and Water is Symbolism and Post Impressionism. Pottery is Baroque and Fire is Cubism.
In the system of things, Set Points set the Feed Back mechanisms that maintain the Phenotypic properties of things that generate the input and Analysis that is matched to the Set
Point to regenerate the Feed Back system. In culture, the
Classical Set Point ideal generates the Baroque system and the
Realistic reaction and the Impressionistic developments.
Romantic generative makes hybrids with the primitive to form the Symbolic and Post Impressionistic, from which comes the
Expressionistic and finally the Cubist and Da Da and Abstract
Expressionistic. This flows back into the Romantic and the
Symbolic in the form of Surrealism.
In nature, the Generative is Mutation and the set point is the
Genetic Code. The opposite of Mutation is the emergent
Phenotypic trait and the opposite of the set point, the Adaptive
Peak in the Genetic Code is Adaptability and Emergence, including the Maladaptive (Thunder and Dust). The Baroque is the genetic system and Cubism is the Natural Selection and
Extinction that screens out the maladaptive. Analysis comes in the form of Isolation and Speciation. Synthesis is the opposite of Analysis, the Water that dissolves the salt and Synthesis in genetic systems is Recombination, Gene Pools, and
Hybridization.
