1. First Neuro physician of the State in Service to be awarded the PhD by the
TAMILNADU Dr. M.G.R. Medical University
2. The first Indian Neurologist to receive the American Indian Neurology award
(AINA) in 2001, during the annual meeting of the American Academy.
3. First neurologist of the state to be awarded Fellow of the American Academy of
Neurology and Fellow of the Indian Academy of Neurology in Tamilnadu government
medical service.
4. Only neurologist name is quoted as recommended reading on Neuroleptic Malignant
Syndrome in practical textbook of Neurology edited by Professor Jose Biller.
5.Only neurologist till date to be awarded on traveling Fellowship to go the USA as a
commonwealth medical scholar.
6. Only neurologist of the state to have been a visiting professor at Cleveland Hospital,
Ohio and Hershe Medical Center, Pennsylvania.
7. Only neurologist in the state to conduct a continuing medical education programme
under Harvard Medical School accredition to conduct ‘NeuroCon 2010’ in Chennai.

8. The only neurologist in the state so far to present four papers in the American
Neurologist Association and three papers in the American Academy of Neurology.
9. Only neurologist to write four books in Tamil towards public awareness on
Parkinson’s disease, Dementia, Strike and headache.

honoring 12 former professors of Neurology during Golden jubilee year of 2000.
11. While accepting the “lifetime Achievement Award” awarded by my students for
25 years in Neurology , a textbook of “practice pearls in Neurology” was given to
all Neurologists and physicians in the Madras Medical College.
