JB Education 2012
Statement by the CEO
JB Education is a leading Swedish education company. JB Education educates 14 500
children, youth and adults across the country. We have a clear commitment to sustainability
and we offer our students knowledge and inspiration to contribute to a sustainable society.
We strive to offer our education in a safe, responsible and creative environment.
I am pleased to confirm the support of JB Education to the United Nations Global Compact in
the areas of human rights, labor rights, environment protection and anti-corruption.
In this first annual Communication on Progress we describe our actions to continually
improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our organization. We
also commit to share this information with our employees, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Human Rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Commitment:
JB Education actively supports the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We respect Human Rights
within our sphere of influence and operate our business in a transparent and trustworthy way. JB
Education sees no significant risks that the company or its suppliers violates the UN Global Compact
Principles 1-2.
Systems:
Our Sustainability Policy includes commitment to the Global Compact Principles 1-2, the protection
of human rights, health and safety. It provides the framework on which we base our decisions every
day. The policy is anchored in values and beliefs and underpins all that we do.
In our vocational education we follow laws and security regulations.
Activities:
The Sustainability Policy, together with our other policies, is anchored in our organization and
available at our Intranet. We have plans to develop our Sustainability Policy, including the Principles
1-2 into a Code of Conduct in 2013 and we will continue to anchor it among our employees and other
stakeholders.
In 2012 we established a Purchasing unit. We have plans to establish a Code of Conduct for our
suppliers, based on Global Compact.
Performance:
In the past year JB Education has not been subject to any investigations, legal cases or incidents
involving violation to principles 1 and 2. No incidents on violations on our Sustainability Policy have
been reported to the Company Management.
Labour Standards
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the
right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: The elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: The effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: The elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Commitment:
We respect the rights of our workers and operate our business safely. We respect the freedom of
association and collective bargaining and have zero tolerance for forced labour, child labour and
discrimination. JB Education sees no significant risks that the company or its suppliers are at risk
violating the UN Global Compact Principles 3-6.
Systems:
Our Sustainability policy includes commitment to the Global Compact Principles 3-6.We have policies
for a good work environment, including health care, equal opportunities, prevention of offensive
behavior.
Activities:
We have plans to develop our Sustainability Policy, including our policies that refer to Global
Compact Principles 3-6, into a Code of Conduct in 2013 and we will continue to anchor it among our
employees and other stakeholders.
During 2012 we started a student exchange program with students in South Africa. The exchange
program is run together with Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, SIDA. The
program will improve the understanding and practical experiences on labour issues.
Performance:
No incidents on violations on principles 3-6 have been reported to the Company Management.
Environment
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Commitment:
We recognize that our organization has a negative impact on the environment, for example through
commuting and energy consumption. We work to minimize these effects and focus on behavior
changes related to energy consumption at our premises.
Systems:
Our Sustainability policy includes commitment to the Global Compact Principles 7-9. We also have a
travel and a car policy for our employees.
Activities:
We have plans to develop our Sustainability Policy, including our policies that refer to Global
Compact Principles 7-9, into a Code of Conduct in 2013 and we will continue to anchor it among our
employees and other stakeholders.
Performance:
No violations on principles 7-9 have been reported to the Company Management.
Anti-Corruption
Principle 10: Businesses should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.
Commitment:
JB Education does not participate in any corruption, bribery or extortion.
Systems:
Our Sustainability policy includes commitment to the Global Compact Principle 10. We also have
policies for representation.
Activities:
We have plans to develop our Sustainability Policy, including our policies that refer to Global
Compact Principle 10, into a Code of Conduct in 2013 and we will continue to anchor it among our
employees and other stakeholders.
Performance:
No incidents on principle 10 have been reported to the Company Management.
