F denotes fail. Classical credit system is contact-based with a single Boğaziçi credit denoting about one lecture hour per week. All courses also have ECTS credits which are indicated in the transcripts. Around 30 ECTS. This usually corresponds to 4-6 courses. Incoming Exchange Students Courses and Language of Instruction All courses are taught in English. Application and Admissions Admissions Boğaziçi University uses a “nomination by the home-admission by the host” system. All exchange students have to be nominated by their home institution. Bogazici University, as the host institution, reviews the applications and the individual academic units accept or reject the applicant. All exchange students have to be based at an academic unit at Bogazici University where they will have an academic advisor. All exchange students are expected to select at least two courses from the academic unit they are enrolled in. Application Procedure Application Form Original copy of the transcript in English Statement of Purpose: A short statement, no more than 300 words, telling why you would like to attend Bogazici University A tentative list of courses you would like to attend.( Minimum 2 courses should be taken from the host department) Please note that this list will not be official until your registration is completed. It will be subject to change depending on the courses offered in the academic year of 2014/2015 A letter of recommendation Boğaziçi University requirements for all incoming students: Nonnative speakers of English should provide proof of proficiency in the English Language by means of a TOEFL ( 550 + TWE 4.5 for paper-based test, 213 + TWE 4.5 for computer-based test, 79 + TWE 24 internet-based test ) or an IELTS ( 6.5) Living in Istanbul Accommodation Limited on campus accommodation is available at Superdorm: http://www.superdorm.info/ Private accommodation possibilities exist in the vicinity of the University as well as in other areas of the city. No assistance is provided by the Office in connection to housing. Arrangements must be handled by the incoming students themselves. Cost of Living Cost of living may depend on many factors including housing location, food expenditure, etc. The following estimates are provided as a broad guide to monthly costs and may significantly vary: Accommodation: 250 – 300 € per month Food:250 € per month Transportation: 100 € per month Books:150 – 200 € Medical Insurance: to be arranged by the student prior to arrival at the host institution.
