Hours of work: Part time (or Full time with the ability to teach a second subject)
Following a successful opening of UTC Cambridge, we are looking to increase our staff team to support
our growth with our first year of Year 11 and Year 13 cohort.
Teaching PE / Games to our students, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a unique science
based University Technical College. We are looking for a specialist in physical education who believes in promoting
Health and Wellbeing to mixed ability students.






 To assist in the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, and teaching
strategies in the Curriculum Area.
 To plan and prepare courses and lessons including projects in collaboration with
UTC partner organisations.

 To ensure that the curriculum area provides a range of activities that will

 To take part in the review, development and management of activities relating to
the curriculum, organisation and academic mentoring functions of UTC

 To take part in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Evenings and liaison
events with schools and community organisations.
 To contribute to the development of effective subject links with external

 To contribute to the process of the ordering and allocation of equipment.
 To assist the heads of curriculum area to identify resource needs and to contribute
to the efficient/effective use of physical resources.
 To co-operate with other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of
resources to the benefit of UTC Cambridge, department and the students.
Tutor Role
 To promote a safe environment for all students as part of the safeguarding
agenda
 To promote the general progress and well-being of individual students.
 To register students, accompany them to meetings and events, encourage their full
attendance at all lessons and their participation in other aspects of UTC life.
 To undertake regular personal review interviews with students to assist in
evaluating their progress and development and in identifying and monitoring
personal action plans.
 To monitor and support progress towards the Duke of York Award through the
Passport to Success system.
 To evaluate and monitor the progress of students and keep up-to-date the
individual student progress file and other records as may be required.
 To contribute to the preparation of reports, including the drafting of references.
 To alert the appropriate heads of curriculum area to problems experienced by
students and to make recommendations as to how these may be resolved.
 Monitor course work and targets and report any falling performance
 Monitor merits, rewards and sanctions and undertake appropriate actions
 To support the activities of the learning company.
 To deliver the mentoring programme.
 To contact the parents, via the heads of curriculum area to keep them informed
of any difficulties and problems experienced.
Teaching
 To teach, according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of
work carried out by students in UTC Cambridge and elsewhere.
 To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and
attainment of students and to keep such records as are required to provide, or
contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to
individual students and groups of students.
 To undertake a designated programme of teaching.
 To ensure a high quality learning experience for students that meets internal and
external quality standards.
 To prepare and update subject materials.
 To use a variety of delivery methods - appropriate to student needs, the
demands of the syllabus and employer expectations - that will stimulate learning.
 To make extensive use of the ICT facilities that are available to enhance teaching
and learning.
 To contribute to the development of teaching and learning materials and
share materials with other teachers
 To maintain discipline in accordance with UTC Cambridge's workplace-based
