Greeks For Good – FAQ’s
Who created Greeks for Good?
Greeks for Good is an Association of Fraternal
Leadership and Values (AFLV) program. AFLV is
working with GrassrootGive, LLC to develop the
program.
What are the goals of the Greeks for Good program?
Read about the program’s goals here.
What are the benefits of Greeks to Good on campus?
Read about the key benefits here for a campus Greek community.
What is the URL for Troy’s Greeks for Good website?

Which causes can I raise money for through Greeks for Good?
Upon registration, you will be asked to select from a dropdown list of causes for
which you have the option to raise funds. This list was initially developed by
compiling the list of causes that Greek chapters at Troy support.
What if I want to raise funds for a cause that is different than what my
organization supports?
One of our goals is to align individuals with causes that they are passionate about. If
your organization raises funds for one cause, but you would like to raise funds for
another cause, this is completely ok. Each individual has the ability to select any one
of the causes from the dropdown upon registration. No matter the cause, your
fundraising efforts will be reflected on your chapter’s team page.
What if I want to raise funds for a cause that is not included within the
dropdown list upon registration?
The dropdown list is only a starting point for options. If you would like to raise
funds for a different cause, please email us at info@greeksforgood.org. We will
work with your Greek life office to consider adding the cause. While we would like
to keep the options manageable, we also want to align individuals with causes that
they are passionate about. No matter the cause, it must be 501c3 organization.
Can I raise funds for multiple causes?
When you register for Greeks for Good, you essentially create one account. You
have the ability to raise funds for one cause through your account. If you have
multiple philanthropic efforts for multiple causes, you’ll need to setup a second
account with a different email address.
Can my chapter use Greeks for Good for our philanthropy events?
Yes, Greeks for Good provides your chapter with the opportunity to raise more
funds for your philanthropy events. Through Greeks for Good, your philanthropy
chair (or any individual really) can register and create a “team” for your chapter. On
the chapter’s team page, the chapter can explain what it does philanthropically. The
person who sets up the team can then invite fellow members of your organization to
join the team. Upon registration, each of your members is then equipped with a
personal fundraising page that he/she can use to raise funds online via his/her
personal network of potential donors.
Can we recoup expenses that we occur from our event through the donations
raised?
The funds that are raised through Greeks for Good will be delivered straight to your
cause. We do not reimburse chapters for costs that they occur for events. One of
our goals of the program is to reduce costs associated with events and encourage
chapters to work with local business sponsors to help pay for any costs that they
occur. We are driven to get more of the money that you raise for a cause to the
cause.
How do the funds that I raise get delivered to the cause?
The funds that you raise through the Greeks for Good platform all land in one
account at the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values. Quarterly, AFLV grants
these dollars to your cause. The cause receives a memo that tells them who raised
funds for them. We will include your name, chapter and university, but we will not
include any of your (or your donors’) personal information. We take care of getting
the funds to your causes so you can focus on your fundraising efforts.
What if my chapter has to send in donations to our organization’s foundation?
If your organization requires you to send the funds that you raise for a cause to its
foundation, just select your organization’s foundation as your cause upon
registration. This will tell us that the funds that you raise need to be delivered there.
What is the cost of Greeks for Good?
The Troy Greek community was selected to receive a free Greeks for Good website
through our Campus Giveaway Competition, so the annual participation fee was
removed. For each donation that you receive, 6.0% + 20 cents is processing fee.
These fees are sent to the provider of the software (DonorDrive) that powers Greeks
for Good as well as our merchant provider that provides the opportunity for credit
card gifts to be made. The only revenues to AFLV are through the annual
participation fee that your community has already paid.
Besides chapter philanthropy events, what else can Greeks for Good be used
for?
You can use the Greeks for Good platform to raise funds in conjunction with any
type of personal activity or goal. Some examples:
Raise funds for a cause in conjunction with:
 Completing an athletic goal (Example: Marathon, triathlon, Tough Mudder,
Color Run, 5Ks)
 Doing community service
 Asking others to donate to your cause rather than buying birthday/holiday
gifts
 Hosting a dinner or get together with friends
 Kicking a bad habit or losing a few pounds
Get creative, set a goal for yourself, and use Greeks for Good to raise funds for a
cause that is important to you in the process.
What do I do with cash or check donations that I receive?
When using Greeks for Good, the majority of the funds that you raise will be
collected online via the fundraising system. However, you can still accept cash or
check donations. If you receive a cash or check donation, we consider this an
“offline gift.” To enter it into your Greeks for Good account, login to the site and
within your Fundraising Portal you’ll see “Donations” at the top. When you scroll
over it, you’ll see the option for “Add Offline Donation.” The donation can be
entered here, and then you should send these offline donations to the following
address. We confirm them on our end and add the gifts to the amount that we grant
to the cause quarterly.
Send offline donations to:

Is there a way that I can compare my efforts to others within the community to
see how I’m doing?

community. On the homepage of your campus’ site, you’ll see rankings for the
individuals and chapters that have raised the most funds. Also, within your
Fundraising Portal you’ll see some statistics about how you compare to others
within the community.
