Greek 2 - Bible Translations Project Guidelines Spring 2015 – Brother Spaeth Each student will translate 1 John 1:1-10. This project is worth 10% of your final grade. In order to receive full credit, the student must include the following with their project: 1. Translation of 1 John 1:1-10 – Due by class time according to the schedule below. Diagram or write out the Greek text Parse all verbs, Infinitives, and Participles Identify the gender, number, and case of all nouns, pronouns, and adjectives. Write out the English translation Identify any significant grammatical constructions 2. Identify and study three (3) key words in the passage that need special attention. Look up the word in Thayer’s Greek Lexicon to discover the word’s range of meaning. Identify all possible meanings of the word List John’s use of the word in his epistle List John’s use of the word in his gospel List the various ways the word is translated in the New Testament. This project is to be completed with only the use of the Greek text, Thayer’s Greek Lexicon, and the www.blueletterbible.org website as specified below.
