Thomas Elliot Graham (1826 – 1872) Ken & Gayle Low [kegalow@yahoo.com] Gayle Graham Low 2408 Hamrick Drive Raleigh, NC 27615-2515 919-848-3492 It has been suggested that Thomas Elliot Graham was the son of William, and the grandson of William Graham (1719-1805) of Shermans Valley present day Perry County Pennsylvania. Thomas Elliot Graham was born August 13th 1826, and died in Harrisburg Pennsylvania on December 10th 1872 at 46 years, 3 months, and 27 days.i He was buried at the Newport Cemetery in Oliver Township Perry County Pennsylvania. ii Thomas married Magdalena (Mollie) Schmidt who was born April 30th 1829 to Daniel K. Smith. iii After Thomas died, Mollie married Mr. Carl. iv Mollie died October 14th 1903, and was buried next to Thomas in the Newport Cemetery. v NEWPORT LEDGER (PA), October 22, 1903. Mrs. Mollie Corl a native of Markelville, died last Wednesday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Rightmyer, in Philadlephia. Her body was brought to Newport on Thursday and taken to the home of another daughter, Mrs. George Robinson, near Markelville, from which place interment was made in the Newport cemetery on Saturday. Mary (Minnie) Minerva Graham was born February 25th 1864 and died May 27th 1948. Minnie married Mr. Zimmerman. ix v. George D. Graham was born October 18th 1867, and died August 29th 1871. Robinson. Handwritten “News 11-19-18”xxii George D. Robinson Dies of Pneumonia Prominent Juniata Township Resident And Descendant. Famous Pioneer Family Served in Civil War— Funeral Sunday Afternoon. George D. Robinson, descendant of George Robinson, his great-grandfather, owner of a large tract of land in Tuscarora township, warranted to him on application No. 2535, dated Jan. 23, 1763, died of pneumonia yesterday at 11 a.m., at his home near Markelville, after a week’s illness, aged 69 years. Further historical interest is found in the fact that George Robinson was the brother of William and Thos. Robinson who were killed by the Shawnee Indians at the Orris Nicholson) farm, at Run Gap. Ickesburg, Monday, July 6, 1763. George D. Robinson was the son of George Rosberry and Elizabeth (Devor) Robinson and was born in Tuscarora township Jan. 4, 1849. He was twice married. His first wife, whom he married in July 1872 was Catherine, daughter of the late Daniel K. Smith of this place. Mrs. Milton Reeder of Erly being their only surviving child. His second wife who was Miss Alice F. Graham of this county, formerly of Harrisburg whom he marries Feb. 17, 1881, and the following children survive him:--Miss Eva Robinson, teacher in the Newport public schools; Mrs. F. Thomas Beck of East Bank, W. VA; Mrs, B. F. Long of Kanawha, Ia., and Geo G., Robinson, at home. Altho for many years prominent in the Republican politics of the county, he never held public office,. For many years he was the purchasing agent of the West Virginia paper mills traveling over a wide scope of country. He served two enlistments in the Civil War, having enrolled July 3, 1864 in Lambert’s 2d Co., P. V. Calvalry, Discharged No, 16, 1864, he re-enlisted Oct. 6, 1864, and was assigned to Troop B, 4th U.S. cavalry, and was mustered out Sept., 26, 1865 by general order at Jefferson Barracks, Md. He was a member of Post 297, G.A.R., this place; lodge of Odd Fellows, Sutton W. Va. And Tuscarora Castle Knights of the Golden Eagle, Millerstown, of which he was a charter member. He was at one time a member of the Newport Lutheran church. Funeral services will be held at the house Sunday at 1 p.m., the family’s pastor, Rev.. J. Robinson died Sunday at 10 p.m. at Harrisburg hospital after being ill about 10 weeks, death being caused by yellow jaundice. Mrs. Robinson, who was formerly Miss Alice Graham, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Graham, and was born at Wila Aug. 16, 1861 and spent practically her entire life in this community., At New Philadelphia, Ohio, on Feb. 17, 1871, she was united in marriage to Mr., Robinson who died 8 years ago. The Robinsons lived at various times in Newport and on their farm at Markelville, but for the last 6 years the family have lived on South Fourth street, this place. Mrs. Robinson is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minnie Zimmerman of Harrisburg, The following children survive; one child having died in infancy; Miss Eva Robinson, at home; Helen, Mrs. F. Thos. Beck, Lewistown; Jean, Mrs. Carl Long, Corwith, Iowa, and George O., Robinson, Chelyan, W. Va. Two grandchildren, Alice C. and Carl R.
